94-Year-Old Woman Has Dedicated 44 Years Of Her Life To McDonald’s ‘Friends’

Loraine Maurer started working for McDonald’s in 1973 and has been a loyal employee ever since.

The 94-year-old customer service savant has worked at a variety of locations in Evansville, Indiana in her 44-year career. Although she loves the food, it’s not what keeps her clocking in every day.

“If you don’t like your job, it’s a job, but I love it,” she tells PEOPLE. “The people, the clientele, that’s why I stuck with it.”

It’s no surprise that her customers have become a kind of extended family. After 44 years of serving the community, you can’t help but become an important part of people’s lives:

“I know what goes on with them,” she says, ” I know some of their children. Some ask me to say a prayer and I do, I know their lives.

Dozens of people stopped by the restaurant to celebrate Loraine’s long service. ““After all these years, she remains committed to serving her customers with one of the most delightful smiles around,” said Chip and Katie Kenworthy, owners of the McDonald’s store Mauer works at.

Mauer, a mother of four, eats McDonald’s for every shift since she started in ’73. Staff even deliver it to her home on days she can’t come into work.

Although she loves the food, she loves her customers more:

“My customers make my life,” she says. “I have traveled with them, gone to ball games with them. They’re friends, not just customers.”

Miss Loraine, you could offer a master class in customer service – job well done!

Buffy Cast Slays These Reunion Photos- Could We Expect a Revival Soon?

Can you believe that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is turning 20?

I don’t want to even start to think about it, because that means I am 20 years older from the days when I would watch the Scooby Gang gather to fight the monsters of the underworld.

Regardless this 20 year reunion set up by Entertainment Weekly has us experiencing all the Nostalgia of the 90’s that we remember loving, oh so much.

On set, you had the whole gang back in action, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Nothing feels better than seeing Buffy and Angels back together again.

Or Buffy and Spike, depending on which team you fall under:

“People ask who I thought was Buffy’s ultimate and I get a lot of hate and a lot of death threats — seriously,” says Gellar. “There was something so beautiful to me about the Buffy and Angel story. I think that Spike understood a different part of who Buffy was and I think she needed to understand that and discover. But for me as Buffy, I think Angel.”

Since playing Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar has on screen doing TV Series like The Crazy Ones, American Dad and The Simpsons.

Since 2005, David Boreanaz has played the lead character role alongside Emily Deschanel in the TV Series Bones. Previous to that, Buffy fans will remember his spin-off show Angel that aired for 5 seasons along Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

James Marsters has had a healthy acting career since leaving Buffy, appearing in Smallville, Lie to Me, Numb3rs and of course, Angel.

From Willow Rosenberg, teenage witch, to Lily Aldrin in How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan has been busy on screen. We all remember her roles in American Pie as if they were yesterday.

We all fell in love with Nicholas Brendon after he played Xander Harris, one of the original members of the Scooby gang. This beloved actor has gone on to doing TV movies and TV series such as Private Practice and Kitchen Confidential.

EW

Seth Green played Willow’s original love until she found Tara played by Amber Benson. Seth has gone on to do the Austin Power Movies, The Italian Job and a variety of TV Series appearances. Amber could be found onscreen on Grey’s Anatomy, Supernatural and Twisted Tales.

After Buffy the Vampire Slayer Charisma Carpenter went on to play in Angel for its 5 seasons. Afterwards she had a plethora of work including Charmed, Veronica Mars, The Expendables and Burn Notice.

EW

The cast paid special tribute to Anthony Stewart Head who was the only member not to be able to make it to the reunion photo shoot.

There’s been chatter about Buffy spinoffs as the show wrapped up, but nothing ever came to fruition, but Head is still open to exploring his character should Joss Whedon be. A Giles spinoff was originally planned for 2008 according to E Online.

“You know what? I would do it. I would do anything to work with Joss again. He’s a wonderful storyteller, a great director, and a lovely man,” Head said when asked about a Giles spinoff. “I would love to, you know? Whether it’s Ripper or something else…”

AOL

So how does the cast feel about a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Revival? They are split.

Alyson Hannigan: “I think we should do the Buffy cartoon.”

James Marsters: “I think if Joss is helming it, then hell yeah. If not, then hell no.”

Charisma Carpenter: “I think the fans would just go crazy if something like that would happen. It would just make so many people happy.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar: “At a certain point, when things are magical, you don’t want to go back and Godfather III it—right?” jokes Gellar. “I’m sure the fans are incredibly disappointed to hear that answer, but I think they’d be more disappointed if we created something and it didn’t live up to the expectation because the expectation is so incredibly high. And I love that it can live in comic form and graphic novels. There are so many worlds it can live in.”

Would you watch a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Revival?

Spice Up Your Dinner With Crispy Honey Sriracha Chicken Drumsticks

Print Recipe

Tired of the same-old dinner? Try something a little different by using a new sauce mixture to liven up that chicken dinner! Sriracha sauce is extremely popular, but if you take that spicy condiment and mix it with some sweet honey you end up with a perfect flavor that you are going to love.

We made it using drumsticks but if you wanted to you could put it on chicken thighs, breasts or wings just adjust the cooking time accordingly. Just make sure you use skin-on chicken because you are going to want it to be crispy.

Shared Food

  • 5 chicken drumsticks
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Sriracha
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp honey

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with tin foil and top wire cooling racks so your chicken can cook more evenly and not get stuck to the sheet. Use baking spray on your wire racks to help the cleaning process.

In a large bowl sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper onto your chicken drumsticks.

10 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Were Adoptive Parents

It may not be for everyone but adoption is a beautiful thing. Voluntarily accepting someone else’s child as your own and showering them with unconditional love is amazing, but the process can be complicated and expensive.

Wealthy people such as Hollywood celebrities have an advantage because they are able to afford the costs associated with adoption.

Angelina Jolie and Madonna may be the most famous for adopting multiple children but they aren’t the only well-known adoptive parents around. Check out this list of five amazing celebrities who also became parents through through adoption.

1. Cate Blanchett

The actress already has three biological sons when she adopted her daughter, Edith Vivian Patricia in 2015. She told Women in the World that the decision had nothing to do with gender or biology, “I felt we had space, enough emotional room in our hearts and were privileged enough to have the capacity to have another child, so it wasn’t about biology. It wasn’t about a desire to have a girl, the gender of the children was never particularly important to me.”

2. Hugh Jackman

Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness unfortunately suffered two miscarriages and as a result they opted for adoption. The couple are proud parents to Oscar Maximillian, 17 and Ava Eliot, 12.

3. Viola Davis

The How to Get Away With Murder star and her husband welcomed their first child, Genesis Tennon, through domestic adoption in 2011. She didn’t want another child to experience the “poverty and dysfunction” that filled her childhood.

4. Katherine Heigl

Heigl and her hubby Josh Kelley brought home their first daughter, Nancy Leigh “Naleigh” from South Korea. She had congenital heart defect but Heigl told Harper’s Bazaar in 2010 that her daughter is fine now. The couple expanded their family by adopting a second girl, Adalaide Marie Hope in 2012.

5. Mariska Hargitay

In 2011, Hargitay and her husband, actor Peter Hermann adopted two children in a span of six months, a daughter Amaya Josephine and a son Andrew Nicolas. Although Hargitay already had a biological son, August, adoption was always part of their plan because both her and her husband come from big families. “It was a no-brainer,” Hargitay told Good Housekeeping. “It was like … a miracle. And I don’t use that word lightly. I’ve never made a bigger decision so quickly,” she added.

6. Sandra Bullock

Both of Sandra’s kids, Louis, 6 and Laila, 3 are adopted from New Orleans and Louisiana respectively. The Miss Congeniality actress tells People that building a family is the best decision she has made, “My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding.”

7. Ty Burrell

Modern Family star Ty Burrell is not just an onscreen dad, he is also father to two daughters, Frances, 7 and Greta, 4. Ty and his wife, Holly, adopted the girls in 2010 and 2012. “I guess if Phil can raise kids, so can I!” he told E! News.

8. Kristin Davis

Popsugar.com

Davis, who played Samantha in the hit show Sex and the City, became a mom to Gemma Rose Davis through adoption in 2011. “This is something I have wanted for a very long time,” Davis told People. “Having this wish come true is even more gratifying than I ever had imagined. I feel so blessed.”

9. Julie Andrews

The legendary Julie Andrews raised 5 children including her biological daughter, 2 step-children and 2 adopted daughters. Amy Leigh and Joanna Lynne, were adopted from an orphanage in Vietnam after the war.

10. Ewan McGregor

Just Jared

Towards the end of 2016, Ewan McGregor and his wife, Eve Mavrakis adopted their fourth child. The new baby girl’s siblings include Jamiyan, 9, who was adopted from Mongolia and the couple’s biological daughters, Clara, 15 and Esther, 9.
