When a bus driver saw Maura Murray stranded on the side of the road he did what any good Samaritan would and asked if she needed help.
The young woman said she had already called CAA, and while the bus driver still called the police he drove away, leaving the woman standing beside her crashed car. That bus driver was the last person to see Maura Murray in 13 years.
While the 21-year-old college student is still treated as a missing person, no one has made a credible sighting of her since February 8th, 2004. The only thing stranger than Murray’s vanishing act are her actions in the days before she went missing.
First, the Amherst student e-mailed her professors saying she had to miss class because of a death in her family – this was a lie. Her coworkers say Murray also broke into tears after receiving a mysterious phone call 4 days before she disappeared.
We still don’t know who called Murray or why, and that’s just one of the many unanswered questions in her case. Even police can’t settle on a theory for why she disappeared.
We know for sure that Murray left Amherst and drove to New Hampshire, where she crashed her car and vanished.
All of her possessions were found in the car, along with a box of wine and driving directions to Burlington, Vermont. Only the young woman’s wallet was missing.
Witnesses saw Murray at the scene of her crash, but she was gone by the time police arrived. Police think she may have gotten lost in the woods while searching for help, or was picked up by a passerby.
Other investigators theorize that Murray, who had a recent run-in with the law over a stolen credit card, may have been planning to flee to Canada. Now, 13 years later, a new TV show hopes to settle this case once and for all.
The Oxygen network’s new show The Disappearance of Maura Murray will analyze her case the same way the network looked into Natalee Holloway‘s, hoping to finally bring closure to the missing woman’s family.
The Disappearance of Maura Murraypremieres at the end of September.

As we’ve said before, life in Hollywood is not the “free ride” we often imagine it to be. Just like us, celebrities have highs and lows in their careers. A brush with the law is not unusual in Hollywood, but these 10 stars were all charged, suspected, or associated with deadly crimes:
The star of In Cold Blood and Baretta was charged with murdering his wife in cold blood in 2001, and his unlikely alibi almost became more famous than the crime itself. Blake and his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley went out for dinner one night, and afterwards Bakley was found dead in his car, parked around the corner from the restaurant.
Blake said that someone else must have shot his wife, because at the time of the murder he was back in the restaurant, retrieving a gun which he had left inside. That gun turned out not to be the murder weapon. Blake was eventually acquitted, but then found liable for Bakley’s death in a civil trial.
The star of Golden Age Hollywood hits like The Bad and the Beautiful and The Postman Always Rings Twice was in an abusive relationship with gangster Johnny Stompanato. The mobster would allegedly beat Turner and blackmail her. One night, as Stompanato attacked the star, her 14-year-old daughter Cheryl Crane stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
Crane was charged with justifiable homicide – since she was protecting her mother – and was made a ward of the state for a year. Crane always insisted on her story of the stabbing, but rumors still swirl that Turner was holding the knife herself, and let her daughter take the blame.
While he has a squeaky clean reputation as a cooking show host today, Snoop and his bodyguard McKinley Lee were both charged with murder in 1993. Snoop was driving Lee when a rival gang member opened fire and Lee shot back. Since Snoop was behind the wheel, he was held equally responsible for the crime.
The men were eventually acquitted because it was a case of self-defense, but Snoop still thanked his “dream team” of lawyers, including O.J. Simpson’s lead attorney Johnnie Cochran, for getting him off the hook.
This real estate mogul (his father is the wealthy Seymour Durst) is nicknamed “The Jinx” because he is strongly suspected in the murders of three people: his first wife Kathleen McCormack Durst, his friend Susan Berman, and his neighbor Morris Black.
Durst’s excuses and alibis were often contradictory, and he was found guilty of evidence tampering by dismembering Morris Black’s body (Durst claims Black shot himself in the face accidentally during an argument).
In 2015 Durst was arrested again in connection with the Berman murder, after a documentary turned up new evidence including a suspicious letter and what some say is a taped confession recorded on a “hot microphone” as Durst used the washroom.
Yes, it may be hard to believe but one of television’s most famous crime fighters served time for first degree murder. Before Dog (real name Duane Chapman) was on the straight and narrow, he was hanging around with some bad company.
Chapman was waiting in a car while his friend got into a disagreement with a drug dealer and wound up killing him. Dog was found guilty as an accessory to the crime. He served 18 months of a 5-year sentence and has been working on the right side of the law ever since.
When a actress was found murdered, the note in her purse pointed a finger at one of Hollywood’s biggest stars…
Actress Jean Spangler was on the verge of making her big break in Hollywood when she vanished without a trace. Spangler was never found, and police investigated every possible lead trying to track her down. Her ex-husband, the most likely suspect, had a strong alibi.
Then police found Spangler’s purse, with a mysterious note inside. It read “Kirk, Can’t wait any longer. Going to see Dr. Scott. It will work best this way while mother is away.” Douglas put out a statement after reading about the case, insisting he wasn’t the Kirk mentioned in the note, but that did little to quiet the rumors.
One of the most interesting pieces of evidence in Spangler’s Case? She appeared in a film with Douglas: Young Man with a Horn.
Burroughs was one of the bright lights of the “Beat” generation, and his novels like Naked Lunch are still widely read today. But he was also a morphine and heroin addict with a history of erratic behavior. That may explain the strange circumstances of his wife’s death.
While partying with friends in Mexico City, Burroughs pulled out a gun and told his wife Joan Vollmer “It’s time for our William Tell act.” (William Tell famously shot an arrow through an apple resting on his son’s head.) He tried to shoot a glass balanced on Vollmer’s head and wound up killing her instead. After a lengthy trial, Burroughs was convicted of homicide but fled to America instead of facing justice.
You probably remember this one. Simpson was a former running back and an actor who was charged with the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. Despite declaring he was “100 not guilty,” the evidence against Simpson seemed strong right up until the moment he was acquitted.
Like Robert Blake, Simpson was later found liable for the wrongful death and battery of Nicole and Ronald, and ordered to pay more than $30 million to their families. Simpson also wrote a book titled If I Did It offering a description of the crime, but since he hadn’t paid his sentence the rights to the book went to Goldman’s family.
Before he was a musician, actor and producer, Wahlberg was a teenage cocaine addict who was involved in a disturbing assault case. At age 16, Wahlberg attacked a middle-aged Vietnamese man with a wooden stick, knocking him unconscious while shouting racial insults.
Later the same day Wahlberg sucker punched another Vietnamese man. Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault, and served 45 days in prison for his crime.
As a record producer, Spector worked with huge acts including the Ronettes, the Righteous Brothers and Beatles guitarist George Harrison. But Spector’s reclusive lifestyle and odd habits came to light after he murdered actress Lana Clarkson in his enormous mansion.
Spector called Clarkson’s death an “accidental suicide,” but he was quoted on an emergency call from his home saying “I think I’ve killed someone.” Spector, who was 63 when he Clarkson died, was found guilty of murder and given 19 years to life. He will be 88 by the time he is eligible for parole.
He’s not a crime fighter, but he does play one on TV. You probably remember Dylan McDermott from roles on hit TV shows like The Practice and Dark Blue, but this star’s glitzy life also has a hidden dark side.
When McDermott was just five years old, his mother died under mysterious circumstances. Questions surrounding what really happened to her haunted the actor for the rest of his life, and he eventually helped solve a real life cold case four decades in the making.
Dylan’s mother was named Diane McDermott. She became pregnant with Dylan as a teenager, and separated from his biological father soon afterwards. Dylan and his infant sister Robin moved in with Diane’s new boyfriend, named John Sponza.
Sponza had a reputation for being violent and abusive towards both Diane and Dylan. So it wasn’t unusual when he kicked five-year-old Dylan out of the house one night, leaving him in the freezing cold.
Soon, Dylan heard yelling and a gunshot from inside the house. Then, an ambulance arrived and took his mother away on a stretcher, with a massive head wound. Sponza told police that she had shot herself by accident by picking up a gun he was cleaning.
But that story didn’t sit right with McDermott. Years later, he helped uncover the truth…
Soon after Diane McDermott’s death, Sponza changed his story, claiming that she had committed suicide.
Suicide remained Diane’s cause of death until 2011, when McDermott, now a successful and famous Hollywood actor, asked the police department in his hometown of Waterbury, Connecticut to re-open Diane’s case. Investigators dug into old press clippings and re-interviewed sources from 1967, and what they uncovered was shocking.
Detectives identified a glaring inconsistency that had been missed in the original case: Diane’s head wound was on the left side, while she was right handed. Other incriminating details about Sponza also came to light: He was a bank robber and a violent criminal with ties to organized crime.
Police say Sponza avoided serious jail time only because his father ran the local prison. Other sources revealed he might have been a police informant, and the detective in charge of Diane’s case was mysteriously fired years after the murder.
Looking back, it seems like an open and shut case against Sponza, but justice couldn’t be served. Sponza’s criminal past caught up with him in 1972, and he was found dead in the trunk of a car parked outside a grocery store.
Sponza might have escaped justice for Diane McDermott’s murder, but solving his mother’s case gave the actor the closure he had been seeking for four decades.
“I’ve come to the point in my life where I’m able to begin to process all of this,” he reportedly told police.

Film icon and Hollywood legend Johnny Depp is suing entertainment law firm, Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal LaViolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman, LLP, claiming that they have stolen tens of millions of dollars from him over the years.
Depp believes that his former attorneys colluded with his then-business managers to siphon the money from his accounts into “third-party loans” without his knowledge or approval, and that they made off with over $40 million.
This isn’t the only time the movie star has confronted former colleagues. He was already filing a previous lawsuit against said business managers, TMG, for fraud. He claims they had grossly mismanaged his finances and properties, like when they paid a neighbor $320,000 for a dispute that they never looked into.
While the allegations that Depp is placing are serious, his former associates have struck back saying that his behavior speaks louder than the lawsuit.
When you look at how the star has spent his money the last few years, a different story begins to emerge.
Would it surprise you to know that Depp, who has starred in films such as The Lone Ranger, Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas, Edward Scissorhands and other Burton movies, has made over $650 million in the past two decades?
Probably not, but when you start to see what purchases he has racked up in the last few years, you may understand how his finances were hard to keep track of.
World class paintings, an extensive real-estate portfolio, a 40-person staff, a private island, and of course the 156 foot yacht that he pays $350,000 per month to maintain, are just some of the expenses that Depp has accrued.
However his former lawyers and managers have come out strong against the accusations, and instead claim that Depp himself has dug himself into a financial hole due to his lavish lifestyle.
Attorney for TMG says that they have proof from former colleagues of the actor’s false claims, saying “Depp knows that these two critical witnesses will fully support TMG’s case and reveal Depp for the extraordinary liar and spendthrift that he is. It is no mystery why Depp is trying so hard to prevent this core discovery.”
Is this the story of a star gone wild, or does Depp deserve to have the money returned? What do you think?
You’ve heard of someone staying cool under pressure, but until you’ve seen this video of a robbery at a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop, you don’t know the meaning of the word “cool.”
Last Wednesday, Tucker Murray was standing behind the counter at the fast food restaurant in Kansas City when the alleged robber walked in.
The hungry perp actually ordered a sandwich before pulling out a gun and demanding money, but Murray’s reaction is the most shocking part of this video.
Staying calm and collected, Murray actually refuses to take out any money for a moment, and even with a gun pointed right in his face he never rushes or panics.
“I’ve been saying that all day and it feels like something stupid to say when there’s a gun pointed at your head,” he told Fox News, “but I never really got the feeling that he was actually going to do anything.”
It’s hard to believe, because he was so composed, but Murray says this was the first time he was robbed while working at the store. While he’s doing fine, his mother told the local news that she’s still shaken by the terrifying video.
Thankfully, after the video of Murray’s relaxed reaction went viral, tips poured in and the police arrested the alleged robber just 2 days later.
While Murray admits he was “caught off-guard” by the crime, that’s the most extreme reaction anyone can seem to get out of the cashier.
Hopefully we would all be as calm as him in the same situation – but I doubt it!
As soon as news of Charles Manson’s death broke late Sunday night, people took to social media right away to express their feelings about the infamous leader of the murderous 1960s cult.
Among them were some popular celebrities, including actress Mia Farrow and author Stephen King.
Farrow shared a photo of her friend and actress Sharon Tate, who was 81/2 months pregnant when she was murdered by the Manson “family,” along with the caption, “Charlie Manson is dead – good riddance.”
But it was actor Bryan Cranston’s eerie recount of how he crossed paths with Manson that had everyone, including himself, shuddering.
The Malcolm in the Middle star shared a story of the time he came across the dangerous criminal in 1968, just a year before he instructed his “family” to embark on a gruesome killing spree in his name, in Los Angeles.
Cranston wrote that as soon as he heard Manson was dead he “shuddered” because it reminded him of how close he got to the “man with crazy eyes whom the hippies called Charlie.”
He continued, “I was within his grasp just one year before he committed brutal murder in 1969. Luck was with me when a cousin and I went horseback riding at the Span Ranch…[SIC]”
Hearing Charles Manson is dead, I shuddered. I was within his grasp just one year before he committed brutal murder in 1969. Luck was with me when a cousin and I went horseback riding at the Span Ranch, and saw the little man with crazy eyes whom the other hippies called Charlie.
Although this may have been the first time that some of Cranston’s followers are hearing this story, it wasn’t the only time he has shared it.
The award-winning actor previously talked about his chilling encounter during an interview in 2016.
“I didn’t actually meet Charles Manson, but I was as close as I am to you,” Cranston told the interviewer sitting next to him. The actor was just 12-years-old when he and his cousin visited Spahn Ranch, where Manson was arrested after the murders.
“We were renting the horses and this young guy, bearded guy, came in screaming, ‘Charlie’s on the hill!’ And about a dozen people galloped away,” he recalled. “On the horse was this little bearded guy with with big, dark eyes and wild hair. It was crazy. I couldn’t take my eyes off him.”
You can watch Cranston tell the story in the video below:
It was two o’clock in the afternoon on a sunny day when Melissa Smith pulled into a Milwaukee gas station. This isn’t how most people would imagine the setting for a shocking crime, but Smith was about to be the victim of a daring robbery in broad daylight. In another twist, the thief got more than he bargained for, because as it turns out Melissa is one woman you don’t want to mess with.
She had just finished filling up her white SUV when she noticed someone was sitting in her car.
In the footage from the gas station’s security camera, you can see a man slip out of a black car and into the front seat of Melissa’s.
Smith seemed like the perfect target, her keys were still in the ignition and she was paying more attention to her phone than her car. But in a split second, she decided she wouldn’t let the crook get away.
“It’s one of those holy s— moments,” she told NBC News. She told herself “this is not happening to me today” and jumped into action.
Melissa jumped onto the hood of her car, holding onto her windshield wipers for dear life and screaming at the robber.

There’s no way the car thief was expecting Smith’s reaction, but he wasn’t willing to give up without a fight. He actually turned the wipers on to loosen her grip, and tried to shake her off the hood. Finally, when it was clear that Smith refused to let go, the man behind the wheel hopped out of the car and left it rolling into the path of oncoming traffic.
With the help of some bystanders Smith was able to stop her car. While the robber got away with her purse, cell phone and sunglasses, her SUV was safe and sound.
So yesterday was super fun….
This happened downtown around 2:00 pm.
There are a couple things that I could have done differently to prevent this. However, how these teens run around doing this for fun is absolutely atrocious. The car these teens were in was also stolen earlier yesterday.
I know my reaction was not the smartest nor safest but it was my instinct reaction. These 4 teens showed no remorse for what they were doing as they laughed at me while attempting to steal my car. They did make away with my purse, iPhone, and wallet.
I would like to thank all of the good people in this world who stopped to help me!
To the teens that did this – This is not cool and it will not make you successful or good honest money.
If you’ve flown recently you know how stressful it can be to pass through airport security. But just imagine if you had one of these strange items hiding in your bag:
A man from California is facing 20 years in prison for his slippery scheme to sneak snakes into California. The man had stuffed the reptiles inside potato chip cans, and police found more illegal reptiles at his home. He was also smuggling albino turtles in the cans, so you could call this a “bulk pack” with different varieties mixed together.
Drug smugglers try and beat airport security every day, but a 66-year-old man from Chile came closer than most by disguising his actually injured leg with a kilo of molded drugs. What gave him away? His suitcase also contained cocaine. Don’t push your luck pal!
In one of this year’s strangest news stories, the U.S. Department of Justice revealed that the owners of the craft store chain Hobby Lobby had been shipping stolen relics back to America, including ancient clay tablets labeled as “tile samples.” The company was fined $3 million for buying the pilfered pottery. Oops!
We know what you want to ask: there’s barely any legroom on a plane, so where would you fit an aquarium? A woman traveling to Australia actually stashed 51 bagged tropical fish into a special apron under her skirt. Security officers realized she was hiding something when they heard “strange noises” coming from her waist.
Forget tried, a man from the Democratic Republic of Congo actually managed to sneak a crocodile onto his plane, where it got out of its bag and caused a panic. The plane actually crashed, killing 21 people on board but not the crocodile.
Find out how a man smuggled himself past airport security on the next page!
A daring smuggler from Thailand came up with what was probably the stupidest way to disguise a live tiger cub that we can imagine. The baby animal was sedated and put inside a suitcase alongside a stuffed tiger cub. Hmm,, I wonder how they could tell the difference! Do you think the teeth gave it away?
Police stopped a pair of women at Liverpool, England’s John Lennon airport after they tried to push a 91-year-old man’s body onto the plane in a wheelchair. They put sunglasses on and claimed he was “sleeping,” but the man had passed away. While they were arrested, police had to let the women – the man’s wife and step-daughter – go free because they couldn’t prove any foul play.
A huge bust in Sweden captured a woman planning to start her own reptile farm after security agents noticed she kept scratching her chest. It turned out she had 6 lizards under her shirt and 75 snakes stuffed in her bra. And I thought traveling with kids was stressful!
It sounds like something out of a spy movie, but it really happened: a man left Hong Kong as an elderly white man, but midway through his flight he went to the bathroom and returned as a young Chinese man. He pulled it off with a silicone movie mask and help from airport staff, who were arrested on smuggling charges.
Probably the most famous case of bizarre smuggling of all time, a man was stopped at a Los Angeles airport in 2002 with rare orchids and a bird of paradise in his suitcase. When asked if he had anything else to declare he answered “Yes, I’ve got monkeys in my pants.” The pair of pygmy monkeys were taken to a local zoo, while the man was taken to jail.
Some writers are so creative, you wonder how they do it. Some books are based off of personal experience, while others are strictly fictional.
For author Liu Yongbiao, he marketed his as fiction when it was actually entirely real. Not a big deal right? It is when the story is about quadruple murder.
Liu is a famed writer in China, and even had one of his books turned into a 50-episode television series. At the beginning of one of his fictional books, called The Guilty Secret, Liu teased of his next novel he was working on which was a suspense-filled, cold-case detective drama about an author who evades detection after committing multiple, brutal murders.
The new book was called The Beautiful Writer Who Killed. Liu told readers he planned on having this book also be adapted into a big-screen movie because of the thrilling plot line.
If only they knew…
In November of 1995, four people were brutally murdered. Two men checked into a guesthouse with the intention of robbing the other visitors. The two man began their theft, but one victim started to fight back. He was beaten to death. In an attempt to cover up their crime, the two criminals murdered the witnesses who came when they heard the commotion, including a 13-year-old boy.
Police tried their hardest to find the killers, but after years of investigation the case went cold. Investigators could not find a connection between the victims and any potential suspects.
“This was the most difficult thing. We found it hard to follow the vine all the way to the melon,” Xu Zhicheng, one of the officers, said.
22 years after the murders, police caught a huge break in the quadruple murder case. Advances in DNA technology allowed them to re-test evidence from the crime scene, and they found their two suspects. Though investigators identified Liu, as well as a 64-year-old man only identified as Wang, as the murderers, they did not reveal what lead them to the men in the first place.
Though he was arrested, it’s what Liu had planned which has got people talking.
When police showed up at Liu’s house, he told them “I have been waiting for you here all this time.”
Chen Hongyue, one of the arresting officers, says the author had already written a letter to be left for his wife, explaining his criminal past.
“Now I can finally be free from the mental torment I’ve endured for so long,” he reportedly wrote. “I have been waiting for this day for 20 years and now it has finally come to an end.”
Both Wang and Liu are in jail for their roles in the 1995 quadruple murder case. There has been no word on how long they’ll be locked up, but it’s probably going to be for life. Liu apparently has plans to write a new novel behind bars, though something tells me no one will believe him if he claims it’s a fictional piece.
2017 was a rough year for a lot of people, and frankly we are glad that it is finally done and over with. It was a tough year for the world of celebrities as well, as several of them faced arrest for a variety of offenses. You would think that being in the limelight would force them to truly consider the consequences of whatever they are doing, but it doesn’t always seem to be the case.
Here are 7 celebrities that felt the cold steel of handcuffs during 2017.
One of the stars of Stranger Things 2 missed the season premier in Los Angeles after he was stopped at the airport and denied entry into the country. During a routine check at LAX, trace amounts of cocaine were found somewhere on his person or luggage. Though he was not formally charged, he was forced to fly back to England immediately. He quickly apologized to the show’s fans, and to his cast mates, saying he hoped this event didn’t take away from the show’s premiere.
Scott was arrested during one of his concerts in Arkansas when police charged him with inciting a riot. Scott had noticed that there were several empty seats up closer to the stage and he encouraged people to make their way over to them. People were injured in the resulting stampede, and Scott was then charged.
The younger brother of Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, along with his ex-girlfriend were arrested during a routine traffic stop and charged with a number of offenses. Aaron refused to give a breathalyzer sample and was charged with DUI, but he was also charged with possession of marijuana and a number of drug related paraphernalia. His brother Nick quickly reached out to him offering his help.
The rapper was busted in New York for alleged drag racing. This stop led to a number of driving related charges including: reckless endangerment, speeding, and driving while intoxicated. It didn’t end there though, he was also hit with reckless driving and driving without a license.
Miles Teller was out having a good time in San Diego, California when he was arrested for public intoxication. When officers arrived on scene, Teller was allegedly so drunk that he was barely able to stand up under his own power. When the officers made their initial approach to Teller he nearly fell into a lane of oncoming traffic. He was taken to a facility to sleep off the booze, but he was so uncooperative that the staff wouldn’t let him come in, which is why he was arrested and charged.
Tomlinson was charged with simple battery stemming from an incident at LAX. When a member of the paparazzi got too close for comfort, he reached out and grabbed the photographer’s legs which caused him to fall. After heading to the courtroom a month later, chargers were never officially filed against him which saved him a lot of hassle and time.
The controversial YouTube star was arrested in Rome for flying a drone over top of the Colosseum, which is highly illegal. The stunt was meant to get them some more footage for their popular online channel, and the arrest only seemed to bolster their “creativity.”
Paul’s camera was confiscated by police, but he still somehow managed to record audio from inside the police station where he can be heard saying, “I don’t want any problems. I’ll pay whatever you guys need. I don’t want to cause problems.” Even after being released from custody, he and his brother got up to even more stupidity for the rest of their trip.
Why do celebrities always seem to get away with everything without having to face any real consequences? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Do you remember Tad Cummins? He was the teacher in Tennessee who abducted his former student, Elizabeth Thomas, and took her on the run with him for a month across state lines.
It was claimed that Cummins didn’t actually take Thomas, but that she willingly went with him. There was evidence to suggest the two had been involved romantically before running away, with Instagram posts between the two being front and center.
“It’s entirely likely Elizabeth doesn’t believe – at least right now – that she’s a victim,” Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine said.
Thomas was found safe in Northern California, and Cummins was sent to jail pending his trial.
Now, as he sits in jail waiting to head to court, Tad Cummins has some complaints about his conditions.
Cummins and his lawyer, Assistant Federal Public Defender Dumaka Shabazz, filed a motion in court to have Cummins released before his trial date, claiming his constitutional rights are being violated. According to the duo, they are unable to meet privately to discuss their case which is grounds for release, according to the motion.
“In American criminal law, the right to privately confer with counsel is nearly sacrosanct,” the motion reads, quoting from a 2014 federal appeals court decision. “By detaining Cummins in these conditions, the government is seriously interfering with … his Sixth Amendment right to counsel.
Shabazz says a guard walked through one of their attorney-client meetings, which obstructs his constitutional rights.
“Counsel requests that the Henderson County Detention Center have a representative available at the hearing to explain why the facility is so casual about trampling on Cummins’ rights under the Fifth and Sixth Amendments of the United States Constitution,” the motion reads.
A judge has already ruled that Cummins should remain in custody pre-trial, but Shabazz is now asking for his client’s immediate release and accountability from Henderson County officials.
Do you think Cummins should be released because of the lack of privacy? Let us know.
Despite the many great services they provide us, being a police officer can often be a pretty thankless job. You’re often risking life and limb to try to make your community a safer place, which puts you in some of the most potentially dangerous situations known to humanity.
Not only that, but thanks to all the stories that often come to light of police officers abusing their power and generally causing problems for the people they’re supposed to protect, the ones who legitimately do their jobs properly and just want to look out for people get painted with the same broad strokes.
Sometimes people do get together to do something to honor the boys in blue, especially if they’ve recently been helped out in a big way. What’s exceptionally rare though is to see someone charged with a criminal offense offering up some kind of compensation to the officers that arrested them, but a woman in Louisiana is doing just that…
KATC reports that Celina Dally and her friend went to a wine tasting at McNeese State University. As is often the case at events like this, Dally swallowed a bit too much wine at the tasting (you’re supposed to spit it back out at these things), and soon she was very intoxicated.
She ended up passing out completely in her friend’s car, leading her friend to call 911 out of concern. When she woke up, Celina got something of a shocking surprise; she was in a jail cell, and had been arrested for public intoxication… and assaulting an officer.
Apparently in her drunken state, she had attempted to bite Officer Guillory, the police officer that arrived on the scene along with the paramedics. After sobering up and having her charges laid out, Dally felt guilty about the entire situation, taking to Facebook with the following post:
“Most of you DONT know lol but I was arrested on October 7th for public intoxication and also for assaulting an officer (not proud of it but it happened)” a post on her Facebook page says. “Anyway, as most of you DO know I’m way too nice. My conscience was eating at me so I decided to find Officer Guillory (who’s super sweet btw) and apologize w a cookie cake! lol just thought I’d share w y’all.”
There thankfully seems to be a good sense of humor at play here, as Dally did in fact give Guillory a cookie cake decorated with the words “Sorry I tried to bite you.”
What do you think? Would you do the same in her shoes?
In what must be one of the strangest news stories so far this year, police from the sleepy Virginia town of Waynesboro (with a population of just over 20,000 people) are on the hunt for a serial cat-shaver.
For months, residents have reported their pet cats going missing, only to have them returned with shaved stomachs.
There are no leads so far, forcing residents of Maple Avenue, where most of the cats have gone missing, to put up flyers hoping for new information.
So far, 7 cats have been shaved, including some pets who were shaved more than once.
The victims include indoor and outdoor cats, and Waynesboro police say they were all well-groomed and wearing collars, so they wouldn’t be mistaken for strays.
Originally, they thought someone was spaying and neutering these cats, but that’s not the case. Without any other theories, they’re hoping someone in the neighborhood knows more than they do.
The notorious con man who calls himself “Mr. Breeze” made a surprising offer to his judge after confessing to his latest crime.
The 41-year-old Jimmy Sabatino has been in and out of jail since he was a teenager, and is reportedly connected to the Gambino crime family. You may remember Sabatino from the 1990s, when he made international headlines by phoning in a death threat against then-President Bill Clinton while in an English prison.
Since then, Sabatino has returned to America and landed himself in jail once again. In fact, he was in prison when he began to orchestrate his latest crime. Sabatino convinced guards at Miami’s Federal Detention Center to bring him cell phones, which he used to make calls to designer clothing and jewelry stores.
Sabatino convinced the stores that he was a representative for brands like Sony and Roc-A-Fella Records, and asked them to “lend” valuable items to his associates outside of prison. He claimed that they would be used in music videos, but instead they were sold on the black market.
By the time Sabatino’s crimes were exposed, his scheme had already collected more than $10 million in merchandise. In a stunning move, the crook admitted to everything and pleaded guilty. He simply asked that the judge grant him one strange request in return.
To be clear, Sabatino says he has no remorse for his actions. “I don’t apologize to nobody,” as he put it.
In fact, he says that the government “should be embarrassed” that he could commit the crimes from his cell in the first place. But it seems like Sabatino wants to put his life of crime behind him, and the gangster has asked his judge to help him.
Sabatino will be transferred from the Miami prison to a “Supermax” facility in Colorado, and once he’s there he doesn’t want to interact with anybody, out of fear that he’ll just commit another crime if he could. His lawyer, Joe Rosenbaum, said Sabatino made the request because “he can’t control himself.”
“He said he does it because it’s fun,” Rosenbaum explained, “because he can do it, because he beat the system.” Sabatino’s trial judge, Joan Lenard, has granted his unusual request.
During his time in the Supermax site, Sabatino will be kept in solitary confinement. He will not be allowed to talk, write letters, or read. He will keep his TV privileges, but otherwise he’ll be alone with his thoughts for the next 20 years.
Sabatino was also ordered to pay back the businesses he defrauded. The judge has made an exception to Sabatino’s request so he can still contact his two lawyers, and his stepmother. Sabatino’s lawyers say he hopes the guards at the Supermax prison won’t listen to any of his schemes.
Over the last few years, many theories about Madeleine’s disappearance have come to light, including one that suggested she was killed by her parents by “accident due to neglect and possible medication.”
Her nanny dispelled that theory earlier this year by insisting that “no way they [Kate and Gerry] did it,” and gave a few different reasons why that would not have been possible.
Other versions of the events reveal that there was a woman standing outside of the Ocean Club apartment where Madeleine was supposedly abducted from just 90 minutes before she was reported missing.
Police followed this lead and recently identified the “woman in purple” as Luisa, a former waitress at a restaurant near the Portuguese resort where the McCanns stayed. However, they haven’t been able to bring her in for interrogation.
Now, just a few weeks after the information about the mysterious woman was made public knowledge, there’s another person stepping forward with some information about the case. In fact, she is claiming to be Madeleine, and has some “evidence” to prove she’s telling the truth.
Harriet Brookes, a student from Manchester, U.K., has gone viral for claiming that she is Madeleine McCann.
Brookes sent a group text message to her friends in which she makes the bizarre confession, and shares a couple of photographic evidence to back up her claim.
“I don’t usually believe in conspiracy theories but honestly I think I’m Madeleine McCann,” she wrote in the chat.
One of her friends responded saying, ” I f***ing guve up,” but that didn’t stop Brookes from sharing more photos. She posted a picture of her eye and leg, along with the captions that read “Exhibit A” and “Exhibit B” to draw attention to the brown spots on her eye and leg, features that Madeleine also has.
Brookes added, “I’m Madeleine McCann and I don’t know what to do with myself.”
One of her friends later posted their conversation on Twitter, and it has already been liked by over 100,000 people.
However, upon further probing, there is a strong reason to suspect that Brookes’ claim is false. Not only is the 17-year-old too old to be Madeleine, who would be around 14 years today, she also told The Tab that she “just sent it for a joke.”
“I’m loving reading people’s reactions. I feel like so many people are taking it seriously,” she said.
I think it goes without saying that Brookes’ idea of a joke is nowhere near funny, considering how serious Madeleine’s case is. The Scotland Yard and the Metropolitan Police have recently been given a combined total of about $16 million to extend their investigation and locate Luisa. So far, they haven’t had much luck.
At the end of February, Melrose Place star Heather Locklear was at her home when cops were called, after her brother came over and saw Heather and her boyfriend, Chris Heisser, in a physical altercation.
As law enforcement officials tried to take her into custody, Locklear became aggressive, and began flailing and kicking. She struck three deputies before being handcuffed and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Locklear’s daughter, Ava, and an “unknown male” were also in the house at the time of the incident, and were apparently “mortified” after “witnessing the whole thing.”
There weren’t a ton of details about Locklear’s arrest at the time, but now we know what she said to police officers to prompt her arrest, and it’s awful.
According to Locklear’s sister, the only reason she got physical with her boyfriend was because he tried to “choke and kill her.” The police report corroborated this, saying Heisser “was standing on the side of the bed leaning over Heather and holding her wrists while she was on the bed.” Heisser was bleeding from the nose and had visible marks on his chest, as Locklear clearly tried to defend herself. Heisser said the actress bit his face while acting “crazy, angry, and wild.”
Locklear admitted to starting the fight by throwing a Red Bull can at her boyfriend after he lied, but then he made it physical.
The worst part about the whole case were the comments that Locklear yelled at police as they tried to arrest her.
She charged at them, grabbed them, and kicked an officer in the shin.
“Get out of my f****** house!”
Locklear was eventually taken outside and pinned against her car, which is when the comments got really vile.
“You f****** deserve your kids to die! You f****** deserve it! And when you find yourself in that position, think of me! I hope no one f****** burns your entire department down, you f******* police department .”
Locklear then said something that triggered a search warrant on her property.
Cops were still trying to contain Lockeler when she gave them cause for a search warrant.
“Get the f*** off my property. Don’t ever come on it. All of you are not allowed … I will shoot you if you come on my property and take that as a threat and f****** put another count against me.”
Cops then got Locklear pinned to the ground, and had to put a hobble on her to prevent the actress from kicking them anymore.
Days after she was arrested, police went through Locklear’s home to search for a gun, as well as “ammunition, holsters, paraphernalia related to firearms, prescription bottles, diaries, clothing, mail and various other items.” They were also looking for drugs, as Locklear had previously been reported as suicidal in 2012 with a history of drugs.
The cops did not find a weapon in the house, even though Locklear has a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver registered in her name.
After the arrest, Locklear was checked into a treatment facility. Her daughter Ava is apparently the one who convinced Locklear to seek help.
“Ava begged her mom to go to rehab,” source told ET. “After Heather finally agreed, Ava went away with her father to get a break from it all.”
Locklear has not released a statement on the incident, and neither has Heisser.
Corey Feldman was a popular actor in the 80s, starring in movies like The Goonies and The Lost Boys, but today people aren’t focusing on his career, they are instead praying for his recovery.
On Tuesday March 27th, Corey Feldman was attacked and stabbed in his car. He survived, and was rushed to the hospital, but he has a lot to say about the attacks.
On Wednesday morning after the attack, once he was stabilized, he tweeted out a message to his fans.
“IM IN THE HOSPITAL! I WAS ATTACKED 2NITE! A MAN OPENED MY CAR DOOR & STABBED ME W SOMETHING! PLEASE SAY PRAYERS 4 US! THANK GOD IT WAS ONLY MYSELF & MY SECURITY IN THE CAR, WHEN 3 MEN APPROACHED! WHILE SECURITY WAS DISTRACTED, W A GUY A CAR PULLED UP & ATTACKED! I’M OK!”
He has some suspicions as to who was responsible for the attack too.
“@LAPD R CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE CASE AS AN ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE! I HAVE HAD MOUNTING THREATS ON ALL SM PLATFORMS BY THIS VILE “WOLFPACK” & THIS IM SURE IS A RESULT OF THOSE NEGATIVE ACTIONS! I HAVE REASON 2 BELIEVE ITS ALL CONNECTED! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! HOW SICK R THESE PPL?!?”
He has been opening up about the sexual assault he experienced as a child, and he feels as though someone is trying to silence him. The LAPD is investigating it as an attempted homicide according to the actor.
Police are currently looking for the three suspects who approached Feldman, while the actor recuperates in the hospital.
We hope that he has a quick recovery, and that they find who did this to him.
Update: News about the case revealed that it’s not all Corey Feldman made it seem.
At 6:20 AM, the law enforcement revealed that while Feldman claims to have been stabbed there is no evidence of a laceration or cut to his abdomen. They said he was admitted into the hospital in stable condition.
At 6:45 AM, we learned that Corey informed the police that his attacker had been following him and that they attacked him with something “long and sharp.” Apparently he feared that it was a syringe so he needed to go to the hospital to check for infection or to make sure he wasn’t injected with anything.
Update #2: Law enforcement updated on the situation
At 7:45 AM PT, the LAPD revealsed that Feldman’s bodyguard who was sitting in the front passenger seat noticed that the car was following them. They shined a flashlight into the car, but then at the next set of lights the driver of the other car got out and confronted them.
Two people got out of the car and approached, Corey and his bodyguard, the one on Corey’s side is said to have attacked him with a syringe. Cops are now saying that there was in fact a mark, but it was not called an attempted homicide as Feldman stated, but a assault with a deadly weapon.
While we may not know the whole truth yet, we will keep you updated on the situation.
Recently, Feldman has spent a lot of his time speaking up about his allegations against certain people in Hollywood. Here has what he said…
Feldman started opening up about the sexual assault he experienced as a child, along with his late friend and fellow child actor Corey Haim.
“[Haim] had more direct abuse than I did. With me, there were some molestations and it did come from several hands, so to speak, but with Corey, his was direct rape, whereas mine was not actual rape,” Feldman said in an interview in November.
“And his also occurred when he was 11. My son is 11 now and I can’t even begin to fathom the idea of something like that happening to him. It would destroy his whole being,” he continued.
Feldman revealed that there was an audio recording of a 1993 police interview where he named which of the Hollywood executives had been abusing him.
Feldman said that he handed the cops a list of men who had abused him as a child, but they never followed up on the investigation. The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office originally claimed they didn’t have the recording that Feldman mentioned, but later they clarified that it has been turned over to the LAPD.
“In a container which included the original reports from the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office located some detective working copies of audio recordings made during the investigation. A copy of Mr. Feldman’s interview was located.
“The recording is being turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department. Due to the fact that this case involves the alleged sexual abuse of a child, we are unable to comment further and any documentation or evidence related to this case is exempt from release.”
After the LAPD said they wouldn’t release it, Feldman shot back and claimed to have his own copy.
“SO NOW THE POLICE R SAYING THEY HAV A COPY OF MY 93 INTERVIEW, BUT THEY CANT RELEASE IT! WELL GUESS WHAT….SO DO I! I WAS RUMMAGING THRU MY GARAGE & CAME UPON THE OLD CASSETTE COPY THE SBPD MADE 4 ME! I HAD NEVER RELEASED IT, BUT NOW I WILL! MAYBE THERES STILL HOPE….” Feldman tweeted.
Hopefully the truth will come out soon, and Feldman will be safe.
You would think that of all the places that a teacher would be respected, it would be inside a school, surrounded by fellow educators. Especially when they were gathered to try and raise funds for the students. But unfortunately for Deyshia Hargrave, she was about to be rudely yanked into the real world.
When Hargrave, who teaches art at a middle school in Louisiana, was speaking to her school board during a question and answer period, she found herself in the middle of a controversy.
Her and many other teachers had come to the meeting to complain about the lack of pay increase for educators in the district over the past few years, and brought to the attention of administrators the difficulty in carrying out their tasks.
They said it was especially hurtful, since the superintendent had just received a raise thanks to their hard work this past year.
But when she mentioned this to the board, she was immediately, and violently shut down.
Hargrave had been speaking during the “public comments” portion of the meeting, when she brought up the fact that the superintendent was preventing them from receiving a pay raise. The superintendent had himself just had his pay increased by $38,000 by the board.
“For a superintendent or any person in a position of leadership getting any type of raise, I feel like it’s a slap in the face for teachers, cafeteria workers and any other support staff we have,” she said.
While she was calmly asking questions, a police officer approached her and told her she had to leave the room. Though at first she ignored him, asking the board why she was being removed, she eventually complied.
Only minutes later, she was tackled to the ground outside the board room, taken outside to a police car, and arrested.
It was unclear why the officer placed Hargrave into custody, though the school board has announced that no charges will be pressed at this time.
The teacher’s union will be holding a rally to protest the Hargrave’s arrest, and to bright light to the issues she had raised.
