Adele Fans Are Bidding On eBay For A ‘Bag Of Air’ From One Of Her Concerts

Adele is one of the most-loved songstresses out there. Recently, people clamored to get tickets for her 2017 world tour. I’d love to go, you’d love to go, we’d all love to go. But maybe an Australian fan took things a little too far…

eBay user Shaun McDonough reportedly went to one of her concerts and brought back a bag of air to auction. Believe it or not, people actually started bidding! Before the ad was taken down by eBay, the highest bid was $2,500 Australian dollars (approximately $1,900 U.S. dollars).

It’s “like new.”

The bag was labeled as a “Legit Bag of Air” from Adele’s March 13th concert in Adelaide, Australia. In the eBay ad, the description said: “Grab a piece of history for your Adele collection. A true fan must have this air. Bid now for a bargain. Please note I’m selling a Coles sandwich bag which contains the air.”

The Writers Republic

But that’s not all. Shaun McDonough has re-listed the ad with the title: “The Original legit Adele live air bag (eBay removed my original listing).” Bids have started at AU $15.45 ($11 USD).

Not surprisingly, many other people have followed suit and are selling bags of air from Adele’s concerts in Melbourne and Sydney.

Excuse me while I step outside to take a breath of fresh air.

Drink Up! Science Says Tequila Is Beneficial To Your Bones

When  you think of “health foods,” tequila certainly does not come to mind but you’d be surprised to know that the Mexican spirit has some amazing health benefits.

According to recent findings by researchers at Mexico’s Center for Research and Advanced Studies, there is a link between tequila and osteoporosis.

The study’s results, which were published to ScienceDaily, showed that the blue agave used in making tequila contains substances that improve the “absorption of calcium and magnesium, essential minerals to maintain bone health.”

The lead researcher, Dr. Mercedes Lopez states that “the consumption of fructans contained in the agave, in collaboration with adequate intestinal microbiota, promotes the formation of new bone, even with the presence of osteoporosis.”

So not only could Tequila aid in the prevention of bone density loss but it could also help with lessening the severity of the loss in individuals who already suffer from osteoporosis.

Dr. Lopez and her team carried out the study using female mice with osteoporosis who were fed fructose molecules from blue agave. Femur samples were obtained eight weeks later and they showed signs of new bone growth.

“It was found that mice that consumed this fructans synthesized nearly 50 percent more of such protein, in addition that the diameter of their bones was higher compared with the subjects which were not supplied with derivatives of the agave.”

But there’s a catch…

Considering the negative impact of osteoporosis on overall health, this study’s findings could lead to advances in the treatment of the disease but for now we should still exercise caution when consuming tequila.

The research was carried out using animals and did not take into account the alcohol and sugar content in tequila and tequila-based cocktails. It should also be noted that the mice had balanced “intestinal microbiota” and were healthy. So the effects of blue agave on humans with other health complications, is yet to determined.

Blue Agave

However, when agave based treatment options do become available, it will definitely not be in the form of tequila. Dr. Lopez has applied for a patent to develop agave medication and its effects will eventually be tested through a clinical trial.

Just remember that although Margaritas may make you happier, they aren’t really going to make you stronger, they contain high amounts of fructose corn syrup which could interfere with bone growth.

What do you think of these new findings? Will you be drinking more Tequila? Let us know in the comments!

Garth Brooks Posts Emotional Message Following The Las Vegas Tragedy

In 1996, country crooner Garth Brooks released his emotional ballad “The Change” in the wake of the Oklahoma City bombing that took the lives of hundreds of people.

This week, following the horrific shooting at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas, Brooks once again picked up his guitar to perform a short rendition of the same song on Facebook Live.

The singer also had a powerful message, and some words of wisdom to convey to those affected by the senseless tragedy, the first responders, and his fellow musicians.

Sitting in front of a TV screen that read “Pray for Las Vegas,” the country singer praised those affected by the deadliest mass killing in the history of the U.S. for their display of courage and love despite seeing a “lot of bad things.”

“I’m very proud of how the audience handled itself. People were laying down on people to protect them,” Brooks said. “Just…character flows through country music. All our love to the victims and the victims’ families. All our love to the bands and crews.”

“Can’t thank the men and women in blue enough,” he continued. “Can’t thank the firefighters, EMTs, hospital staff, SWAT teams, everybody…and the volunteers.”

But it was what he said in the rest of the video that struck a chord with people across the country as well as Brooks’s fellow artists.

Brooks admitted that he can’t begin to imagine what everyone in Las Vegas is going through at the moment, but fear cannot be allowed to win.

As an artist, he stands firmly by the saying “the show must go on,” despite how tough it may be to take the stage after such a terrifying incident.

Brooks doesn’t have a show until Thursday, but he expressed his admiration for artists who have to get back up on stage so soon after the tragedy. He also dished out some sage advice for them.

“The show must go on. It just does,” Brooks said.  “All things good start with you. If you believe it, start it up. I’ll be the first.”

For further encouragement, Brooks shared a line from his favorite movie, Starman, which says, “When things are at your worst, you are at your best.”

The singer continued, “When things go bad, doctors go to work. When thing go bad, policemen go to work. When things go bad, music and musicians go to work.”

“Those people in those seats, they come to get away from it all, to be happy, to be joyous, to sing, and to love one another. That’s what it’s all about. So, you got a gig tonight? The music starts tonight. Start it again, start spreading the love. Start creating the greatest power music holds, and that’s the power to heal,” advised Brooks.

A slightly choked up Brooks then launched into a acoustic performance of “The Change.” You can watch the entire video below:

Brooks isn’t the only musician to speak out about the horrific mass shooting. In the last couple of days, a number of artists, including his fellow country singer Jason Aldean, have also taken to social media to express their sentiments.

What do you think of Brooks’s message?

Meet Simon, The Only Cat To Win A Military Medal

The PDSA Dickin Medal is an award given to the bravest animals who served during wartime. Since its inception it’s been given to dozens of pigeons, dogs and horses, but only ever to one cat.

Purr n Fur

This is Simon and in his 2 years alive he touched the lives of hundreds of people, especially those aboard the HMS Amethyst in 1949.

While docked in Hong Kong a 17-year-old seaman named George Hickinbottom found a stray kitten wandering around the docks. The cat was underfed and malnourished and would surely have died. Perhaps feeling lonely Hickinbottom broke protocol and smuggled the cat aboard.

Simon and George

It couldn’t have been easy to keep a secret on-board a ship, especially not a living, breathing one and the cat was quickly discovered. Instead of causing trouble though the cat, named Simon, began to earn a reputation as a fearsome mouse-hunter and cuddly companion.

Don’t let the image of the tough sailor fool you, Simon won over everyone on board, and it was said could frequently be found sleeping in the captain’s hat.

In 1949 the Amethyst was involved on what would later be called the Yangtze incident. The ship, sailing up the river Yangtze in China was attacked. Chinese Communist guns opened fire and one shell tore into the captain’s cabin killing Lieutenant Commander Skinner and seriously injuring Simon.

Simon crawled above deck and was rushed to the medical bay, but he wasn’t expect to last the night. Doctors removed 4 pieces of shrapnel and cleaned his burns, against all odds Simon survived.

After the incident Simon became a household name. He was featured in magazines, newspapers and awarded several medals. They even bestowed upon him an honorary military rank: Able Seacat.

After he recovered Simon returned to work. Mousing, napping and raising morale. Sadly he succumbed to a viral infection later that year.

After over 50 years Simon is still the only cat to be awarded such honors, and deserves his place in history.

Here’s Why You Should Stop Using K-Cup Pods Right Now

You wake up, pick out your favorite blend, pop it into your coffee maker and minutes later you have a steaming perfect cup of coffee. Easy, right?

Well it may be convenient, these single-serve pods could cause some serious harm.

If you are part of the 1 in 3 Americans who use a Keurig or other single-serve coffee makers, keep reading because this could affect you.

As of 2017, only Green Mountain Coffee and 3 other Keurig pods are recyclable. That leaves 200 remaining cups and pods heading to the garbage can every morning.

When K-Cups end up in landfills, they will stay there for 450 years. The amount of K-cups discarded can circle the earth 12 times.

“If you took last year’s production of K-Cups, which was almost 10 billion, and you were to take them and line them up end to end like this, they would encircle the globe more than twelve times at the equator,” Murray Carpenter, the author of Caffeinated: How Our Daily Habit Helps, Hurts, and Hooks Us, told CBC’s The National in a 2015 interview.

Keurig states that their goal is to have all K-cups be recyclable by the year 2020, but that doesn’t mean that they will in fact end up being recycled by consumers. People who grab a single-use cup often do it for the convenience and they may not be inclined to go through the process of recycling the materials that their coffee came in, when the garbage can is right next to them.

While composite plastic is technically BPA-free, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t harmful to your health.

BPA-free plastics can mimic estrogen activity in the body, according to a study published in the Environmental Health Perspectives. This effect can lead to altered functions of reproductive organs including reduced sperm counts, obseity and increased rates of cancer.

These machines are also known for being a cesspool for harmful bacteria if not cleaned often and properly.

Single serve coffee is also more expensive than the alternatives. To get a pound of coffee in K-cup pods would cost up to $50, whereas a pound of ground coffee is approximately $10.

The pod drinker spends almost 5 times as much as the coffee pot consumer and the resulting taste of the coffee is close to the same.

So what is the cost of convenience?

Many people have already started to avoid single-serve coffee resulting in falling sales of the K-cup.

Last year, Hamburg, Germany was the first city to ban single-serve coffee pods.

John Sylvan, cofounder of Keurig doesn’t even own his product. He admits traditional coffee is cheaper and easier to make.

“I feel bad sometimes that I ever did it,” Sylvan said to The Atlantic, in response to a question about the environmental impact of K-cups.

If the inventor of the Keurig isn’t using his product, what does that say about us?

Another Original NCIS Cast Member Is Leaving The Show

NCIS is one of the few shows on television that has remained consistent throughout the years. You know what you’re getting every week, and that’s a solid hour of entertainment. It’s the 8th longest-running scripted prime-time TV series, with 15 seasons under its belt.

Starting in 2003, NCIS follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and their attempts to thwart criminals.

In 2016, NCIS saw fan-favorite and original character Tony DiNozzo (played by Michael Weatherly) depart the show. His close friend, castmate Pauley Perette, says she was “dehydrated from crying so much” when she saw Weatherly leave.

But now, fans will need to prepare themselves for another tear-jerking goodbye.

After the coming season, another original cast member will be leaving NCIS.

“So, it is true that I am leaving NCIS after this season,” announced Pauley Perette on Twitter. “It was a decision made last year. I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years. … I love her as much as you do.”

After Perette’s departure, there will only be two remaining original cast members: Mark Harmon and David McCallum.

At least fans will have one more season to prepare themselves to say good-bye to Pauley’s character, Abby. But that doesn’t mean it will hurt any less!

Dying Man Fulfills Life-Long Wish To Meet A Real Monkey

Ian Cadman was a 58 year-old man with autism. His entire life he had one obsession that consumed most of his mind and that was monkeys.

He collected over 800 different monkey toys in his lifetime and lined his walls with photos of his favorite animal.

When Ian was diagnosed with colon cancer and had only five weeks to live, his family decided to make his dream come true.

His family wanted to get him a surprise visit with a monkey are the local Knowsley Safari Park. It was all arranged, but because he was so ill it turned out that he couldn’t leave the hospital. Lucky for him, his family wasn’t going to let that stop them from making his dream come true.

On the day that ended up being his last, Ian Cadman was visited by a two-year-old marmoset named Millie.

Ian’s twin sister Karen was grateful to have this experience as one of his last, saying that “to know he’s had a real monkey there with him, meant so much to us.”

Ian had spent his whole life surrounded by monkeys, always keeping a toy or two near him – even in the hospital – and he would sponsor monkeys at the Monkey World in Dorset. They were his favorite things in the whole world and it was nice that he finally go to meet one in person.

Do you have anything that you want to do in your life? Don’t wait, do it now!

Here’s Why Your Ice Cream Will Be More Expensive This Summer

This is the time of year when people spend their days relaxing on the beach or beside the pool, and nothing pairs better with the hot sun than cold ice cream.

But there’s bad news for people who like to treat themselves to a cone or a cup of soft serve: prices for vanilla are expected to skyrocket worldwide, and the cost of your favorite treat will go up with them.

Bakers and fans of sweet treats might also notice their wallet getting lighter, and it could take years for prices to bottom out again.

This may be surprising, but vanilla – the plainest of the food flavors – is one of the rarest and most expensive spices on the planet.

Vanilla is just a pain to grow. The flavor comes from pods that grow in vanilla orchids, which only bloom once per year. Hand-pollinating the flowers and drying out the pods means it takes as long as 4 years to grow a batch.

So when Madagascar, which produces 80{49382ccf8aa3307257579caf6f867159d328eca730a0976815a1bacefc5bc6ee} of the world’s vanilla, was hit by Cyclone Enawo last month, vanilla prices started rising steeply.

One ice cream store owner says the price for a bag of vanilla beans has jumped more than 400{49382ccf8aa3307257579caf6f867159d328eca730a0976815a1bacefc5bc6ee}, from $72 to $320. Another says he stockpiled vanilla extract when the crisis started, because otherwise he could never afford to keep his store open.

If there’s one consolation about this vanilla shortage, it’s that the sweets and treats in your grocery store probably won’t be affected.

Most major food companies use synthetic vanilla flavoring in their products. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to start stockpiling tubs of  Häagen-Dazs now…just in case.

And if you do, be sure to top it with some delicious monkey butter!

They Refused to Allow Him To Use His Last Name On His License Plate, And He’s Unhappy About It

After 25 years of having his last name personalized on his licence plate, the Nova Scotia Registry of Motor Vehicles is cancelling this piece of his family’s history.

Following a single complaint, Lorne Grabher received a letter in the mail informing him that the personalized licence plate that he gifted to his father for his 65th birthday would be cancelled.

His father passed away in the 1990’s but the plate remained in the family.

Continue to the next page to see what his licence plate says and why it was removed.

According to the letter sent by the Nova Scotia Registry of Motor Vehicles, the public cannot be expected to know that his last name was what was on the plan and “can misinterpret it as a socially unacceptable slogan.”

In an email sent to CBC News by a spokesman from the Department of Transportation, Brian Taylor. It said: “A complaint was received outlining how some individuals interpret [the name] as misogynistic and promoting violence against women.”The email went on to say, “With no way to denote that it is a family name on the plate, the department determined it was in the public’s best interest to remove it from circulation.”

This news comes after the media uproar of President Donald Trump using offensive language in a video saying he wanted to “grab her” in reference to a woman.

“Donald Trump is a totally different person. He’s ignorant. He doesn’t care about anybody and I shouldn’t be put in a class like him,” Grabher said.

Grabher is not going down without a fight. While he finds a way to overturn the decision, his son sent him a Grabher licence plate from Alberta and he has proudly displayed that on the front of his car.

“I’m proud of it and as far as I know in Nova Scotia we’re allowed to put whatever we want on the front of the car.”

Shania Twain Opens Up About Her Abusive Past In Emotional Interview

To the outside world, country superstar Shania Twain may seem perfect, but on the inside she’s had to work hard on healing many wounds.

Country 93.5

Twain had a rough childhood growing up in Timmins, a town located in the Canadian province of Ontario. Born Eilleen Regina, Shania’s parents divorced when she was just two years old so she was raised by her mother, Sharon, and a man named Jerry Twain, who later adopted her.

Unfortunately for the country pop singer, the road to success was paved with hardships and repeated abuse, which she and her mother suffered at the hands of Jerry.

Twain has often touched on the subject of her experience with domestic abuse, and even wrote about it in her 2001 memoir From This Moment On. The singer went on a 15-year hiatus shortly after the book was released, but she’s back and is once again opening up about her story and pain in a new interview with 60 minutes.

Shania’s family struggled with finances, so her mother was forced to remain in the abusive relationship with Jerry.

He was violent, and both verbally and physically abusive. During one of his outbursts, he nearly killed Shania’s mother by dunking her head into the toilet. Shania, who was 11 at the time, was convinced that her mom was dead.

“I would get physically involved sometimes with my parents’ fights,” she said. “I just thought that he would kill her. One of these times—he was gonna kill her.”

As a child, what confused Shania even more was that when he wasn’t having an episode, Jerry was appeared to be a loving man.

“He just had issues—and, at the time I was looking at this man as somebody who was not being himself,” Shania said. “It was like he was two people.”

At the tender age of 12, the aspiring entertainer started performing on local TV shows, at community events, and clubs so she could help her struggling family. However, spending extra time away from home didn’t mean that Jerry would stop hurting her.

Jerry allegedly sexually assaulted Shania when she was a teenager, which was the last straw according to her autobiography. She managed to convince her mom to move them to Toronto, where they lived in a shelter while she worked on her career.

Just when things were starting to look up, her mom and Jerry died in a car accident, and a then 22-year-old Shania was forced to take care of her siblings all on her own.

“At that point in my life, I would have rather gone with them,” Shania said, referring to her parents. “It was like, ‘This is way too much to handle.'”

Shania still managed to work her way up the fame ladder, from a small-time Las Vegas perfomer to country music’s best-selling female artist of all time.

Sadly, the abuse and her mother’s death weren’t the only painful memories Shania carries with her.

The person she trusted the most, her ex-husband Mutt Lange, broke her heart when he cheated on her with her best friend after 15 years of marriage.

“I think what made my divorce heavier for me in the moment was the fact that it was like, ‘I don’t think I can handle one more bloody thing like that,'” Shania explained.

Country Fancast

On top of all that, Shania, 52, also battled Lyme disease as well as dysophonia, a debilitating vocal chord disorder that threatened her ability to sing.

“How many more traumatic moments can I take?” a tearful Shania said in the interview.

Thankfully, she made it through the hardships and her life has been on the mend in the last little while.

She is finding happiness once again with the release of her new album, NOW, this past September. She also found love with Frederic Thiebaud, whom she married in Puerto Rico on New Year’s Day 2011.

“It was twisted,” she said wrote in the memoir, “but so beautifully twisted. I really can’t complain. I’ve got a beautiful man.”

The “Still the One” singer also has an upcoming tour, and a movie with John Travolta in the works.

She said it best when she said, “I was born to be a fighter and a survivor.”

You can watch Shania’s 60 Minute interview in the video below:

Check out the pictures of some of Zanda’s cats. It’s pretty amazing that she was able to save over 350 in just two years!

Thank you, Zanda, for all your tireless work with these homeless cats!! The world is a better place with you.

What Your Favorite Buffet Place Isn’t Telling You

There’s nothing that gets my mouth watering faster than the words “buffet”. Just knowing that there’s a seemingly endless supply of food to devour gets me excited, even though I rarely eat any more than I would have if I just ordered a standard plate.

Sound familiar?

Most of us love buffets and fall for the trick of “All You Can Eat”. We’re willing to pay more for the promise of eating until we can’t take it anymore, but very few customers ever get their money’s worth. It’s not a fluke either, restaurants actually have a number of clever ways to trick you during a buffet.

We’ve given you some tips about Chinese Buffets before, but this might help you get more bang for your buck next time you dine out.

Sundial Beach Resort

You’ve no doubt heard some piece of advice telling you not to fill your plate. The more on your plate the more likely you are to overeat. It’s good advice for when you’re trying to lose weight, but it’s not going to help you at the buffet line.

That’s because buffets normally use specially produced smaller plates and bowls. Think about it, does your plate pile up unreasonably fast? Have you get gotten a full bowl of soup or chili when you laddled it in? Probably not.

That’s because smaller plates slow down how fast people eat, the slower they eat, the less they eat, and that’s not the only trick that has to do with size.

Glasses for water and soft drinks are normally huge. That’s not just so they have to refill them less, it’s because if a customer fills up on Coke they probably aren’t going for that second helping of prime rib.

Midtown Lunch

There’s a lot more to a restaurant’s trickery than messing with plate sizes. Next time you’re at a buffet line take a look at how they have it all set up. Chances are the dishes of potatoes, rice or other starches are going to be filled to the brim. When we’re helping ourselves to a full dish of food, we’re likely to take more of it.

The reverse is also true. Meat dishes or more expensive ones, are generally only half-filled. No one wants to be rude so a customer might skip over it entirely, or only take a small serving of a nearly empty dish.

New York Daily News

Have you ever been left waiting for a refill, your plates to be cleared or a waiter to bring over a new fork? You might think that you just were getting bad service, but a study actually showed that restaurants limit the availability of knives and forks during a buffet to slow down eating.

Meanwhile at Chinese Buffets chopsticks are readily available, likely because they are slower to eat with than knives and forks.

One big reason that All-You-Can-Eat Buffets make money is actually found in your mirror. That’s right, it’s you! A study of an Italian Buffet showed that the less a buffet cost, the more likely it was to be rated as poor, or unsatisfactory – despite serving the exact same food. In short, the more we pay the more we want to say we liked something. Obviously there’s a tipping point, and buffets have to find that sweet spot.

Think about it, does that line of reason apply to you too?

4-Year-old Uses His Mother’s Thumb To Save her Life

Have you been procrastinating using your thumbprint as a way to unlock your iPhone? While for this mom, it was this security feature and the quick thinking of her 4-year-old son that saved her life.

After losing consciousness, this mother-of-three in Croydon, South London has her son to thank for getting help when she needed it most.

When 4-year-old Roman discovered his mother unconscious and not breathing, he used her thumbprint to access her iPhone and called emergency services with the help of Siri.

He told the call handler that he thought his mother was dead because “she’s closing her eyes and she’s not breathing”.

The call handler calmly got Roman’s address and asked him to go and shake his mother. “She’s not waking up,” he replied. “Give her a good shake, shout out ‘mummy’!” said the call handler. The boy can be heard shouting “Mummy!” and then told the handler that “it didn’t work.”

Thirteen minutes later, officers forced their way into the home where they found the boy, his twin brother and a younger brother inside with their mother who was laying unconscious on the floor.

After receiving treatments from paramedics, she was able to regain consciousness at home before being brought to hospital.
