Two People Have Already Died From Eating This Cheese, Protect Your Family

Two deaths have been reported in an outbreak of listeriosis that has been linked to a brand of cheese made by Vulto Creamery.

Six people have been hospitalized across the country, ranging from Connecticut, Florida, New York and Vermont, ages spreading from 1-89.

Vulto Creamery have recalled all of their Ouleout, Miranda, Heinennellie and Qillowemoc soft wash-rind raw milk cheese.

In a statement released from the company, they announced that “if you have any of this soft, wash-rind raw-milk cheese, please do not consume it. Consumers that have any of these soft raw milk cheeses from Vulto Creamery should return the cheese to the purchase location for a refund.”

They adviser retailers that “any of the Vulto Creamery soft, wash-rind raw milk cheese on hand should immediately remove these products from common storage coolers and quarantine these cheeses in a secured area of a cooler.”

The FDA has shut down the production at the company while they investigate the cause of the outbreak.

If you have any of this cheese in your home return it immediately!

Scientists Prove This Kitchen Theory Is Legit

Germ expert Professor Anthony Hilton just gave a boost of confidence to those who practice the five-second rule.

We’ve all heard of the rule: food dropped on the floor is safe to eat as long as you pick it up within 5 seconds…10 seconds if the food is really good or you’re really hungry.

For years, people have been trying to discredit the theory because of its obvious flaws. Bacteria don’t just hold off from a piece of toast on the floor because it’s only been two seconds.

jahenry.com

“Obviously, food covered in visible dirt shouldn’t be eaten, but as long as it’s not obviously contaminated, the science shows that food is unlikely to have picked up harmful bacteria from a few seconds spent on an indoor floor,” says Professor Hilton. “That is not to say that germs can’t transfer from the floor to the food. Our research has shown that the nature of the floor surface, the type of food dropped on the floor and the length of time it spends on the floor can all have an impact on the number that can transfer.”

One survey conducted asked 2,000 people if they abide by the five-second rule, and an overwhelming 79{49382ccf8aa3307257579caf6f867159d328eca730a0976815a1bacefc5bc6ee} said they do.

The key thing to remember here is that your judgement must always be used. Did you just walk on that floor in your bare feet after the gym? Maybe you take a pass on eating that piece of cheese, then.

Bayer, a very well-known German company that produces aspirin for pain management, also marketed heroin as a remedy for cough, cold and pain remedies.

In the 1890s, Bayer  promoted heroine for use in children who suffered from coughs, colds and “irritation” into 1912. This was long after reports surfaced in 1899 that patients had developed a “tolerance” for Heroin, when addicts in the U.S. were scrambling for more and more.

It wasn’t until 1924 that the FDA banned Heroin entirely, except for use under very strict medical conditions.

Just like humans, apes and elephants, dolphins, whales and porpoises have belly buttons. They are marine mammals that give birth to live young.

Similar to human babies, baby marine mammals are born with an umbilical cord, which provides oxygenated, nutrient rich blood from mom to her unborn baby. When the baby dolphin is born, the umbilical cord detaches and the little one can begin feeding on its own.

Since they are born with umbilical cords, dolphins also have belly buttons!

Scientists Can’t Believe What They Are Seeing, And No It’s Not What You Think It Is

The ways that animals evolve to keep themselves safe is nothing short of remarkable. This newly discovered species has surprised scientists with its completely unique defense mechanism.

This is actually a gecko and it is able to completely shed its scales when being attacked. Essentially what happens is it gets naked and slips away.

This process doesn’t hurt the lizard at all, and they fully regenerate within  a few weeks in a new pattern than before. It’s like if you were to shave your head and grow your hair back in an entirely new color. Kind of an interesting tactic but fascinating none the less.

PhD candidate Mark D. Scherz spoke abut the unusual reptile by saying that “it looks like a fish until you grab it, and then it looks like a naked chicken breast. It’s bizarre, it’s really surprising, and it’s quite uncomfortable when you see them.

This new species of fish-scale gecko was found in Madagascar. Scientists believe the large scales are indented as a decoy against predators. Scherz says that “they get stuck in those jaws or claws and allow the gecko to escape naked and alive.”

Because of their speed and agility they are apparently a “nightmare to catch” but if they do happen to get snagged this defense is their best option to survive.

Your Preference Of Coke Or Pepsi Is Probably Based On This One Thing

A lot of people can’t tell the difference, but those who can have a clear preference. Whether it was what you had growing up or just simply the flavor you prefer, Coke and Pepsi have long been rivals striving to be number one.

The advertising campaigns alone cost millions of dollars, trying to compete for your attention and loyalty, but really it’s all down to taste.

Back in 2005, Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book called Blink where he figured out the true differences in the flavors.

He found that Pepsi has a citrus based flavor while Coke is characterized by a raisiny-vanilla tang.

He says that because Pepsi has a sweeter citrus taste that it often wins the taste tests, but Coke has a more smooth flavor.

As for the actual ingredients, Pepsi contains more sugar, caffeine and calories while Coke has more sodium.

What do you think, which one is your favorite? Have you ever noticed these flavors before?

Experts Say You Might Beat Your Facebook Addiction By Having LSD For Breakfast

One addiction can cure another! Or at least that’s what Baynard Woods, a researcher working under psychedelics expert Dr. James Fadiman, claims. In case you didn’t know, Fadiman worked extensively with LSD until it was banned in 1966. The researcher claims he “microdosed” on the drug in the early morning, and it helped him control his compulsive social media and internet habits.

“The most remarkable effect of the microdose, which I noticed on the first day, was that it broke – or significantly disrupted – my addiction to the internet,” Baynard wrote. “Like many people, I often find myself scrolling aimlessly through Facebook when I tell myself I’m too tired for anything else. But that day, I stayed away from it almost completely.”

Baynard goes on to explain that he spent most of the day in the great outdoors, riding the bus and chatting with strangers. He said he “often ended up in actual conversations rather than virtual ones.”

Apparently, taking LSD for breakfast has become the norm for some people. The idea is you have a small amount – just 10-15 micrograms – and get on with your day. Dr Fadiman said: “People do it and they’re eating better, sleeping better, they’re often returning to exercise or yoga or meditation. It’s as if messages are passing through their body more easily.” I bet they do.

Although a small amount of acid doesn’t cause drug trips, it’s been linked to alarming conditions such as panic attacks, psychosis, and terrifying visions.

This Is The Gruesome True Story Of Carl Tanzler And His Corpse Bride

Sometimes, it’s a good idea to listen to your intuition; other times, it’s best to just call the doctor.

Whether it’s through dreams or in our waking life, many people claim to have a connection to the spirit world. Often, messages from deceased relatives urge us to make a life change for the better or simply assure us that they are happy in the afterlife.

However you receive the message, it is often up to you to interpret it’s meaning. For one man, his childhood experience with the supernatural (and the way he interpreted it as an adult) would literally haunt him for the rest of his life.

Some people say that true love transcends all obstacles. In any other case, that would be romantic, but in the case of deranged doctor Carl Tanzler – it’s just really really creepy.

It began the late 1800s, when young Carl Tanzler was visited by the spirit of his deceased ancestor, Countessa Anna Constantia von Cosel. The vision supposedly revealed the face of his one true love.

No one could have predicted that German immigrant, Carl Tanzler, would take his late ancestor’s message about true love to such gruesome extremes.

Find out what really happened on the next page…

For many years later the image of a raven-haired beauty would haunt his dreams.

Little did he know that their paths would eventually cross years after he had married and fathered two children.

It was after abandoning his family in Zephyrhills, Florida for a radiology position in Key West, that he met his “soulmate.”

When Tanzler (now calling himself Count Carl von Cosel) laid eyes on the Cuban-American Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos, he knew that she was the one he had been waiting for.

Unfortunately, the beautiful 22-year-old woman was diagnosed with tuberculosis – a disease for which there was no cure in the early 1900s.

Despite being unqualified to treat her, Tanzler managed to bully his way into her family home, where he treated the young woman with ‘specially-made’ tonics, elixirs and medicines.

Desperate to cure her, and win her affections, Tanzler showered her with gifts and declared his love for her.

Sadly, she succumbed to her illness in October 1931.

Normally, this would be the end of the story. Not for Dr. Tanzler. In fact, this is where the real story begins… read the rest on the next page.

Now thoroughly derranged by the loss of his ‘soulmate,’ Dr. Tanzler convinced her family to let him purchase a stone mausoleum in Key West Cemetery for her remains.

With her parents’ permission, he hired a mortician to prepare her body and lock her inside.

For two years, Tanzler would visit Hoyos’ grave every night until he lost his job. And then, suddenly, he stopped.

What her family didn’t know was that Tanzler had a key to the mausoleum and he had stolen her body from the graveyard.

He whisked away her decomposing corpse to an old airplane that he had repurposed into a makeshift medical laboratory.

He taught himself some rudimentary embalming techniques then set about preserving his true love forever. He used plaster of Paris and glass eyes to maintain the integrity of her face and then inserted coat hangers and other wires to stabilize her skeleton.

Her torso was stuffed with rags to preserve it’s shape and he continued to apply mortician’s wax to keep her face “alive”.

For seven years, Tanzler wrapped the corpse in a dress, gloves and jewelry, then slept next to the body in his own bed.

It wasn’t until Elena’s sister paid an unexpected visit to Tanzler’s home that he was finally exposed. An autopsy revealed the frightening details of the derranged man’s work, which lead many to believe that he had done much more than sleep next to the deceased woman’s body.

While he was charged with desecration of the grave site, the crime had passed the statute of limitations at the time and his case was dismissed.

Elena’s corpse was preserved and kept on display at a local funeral home for thousands to view, before she was finally laid to rest.

Still mourning the loss of his ‘soulmate,’ the now-free doctor created a life-sized dummy of Hoyos, which he kept in his bed until his death.

Years later, in 1952, he would die alone in his home at the age of 75 years old. It would be three weeks before anyone discovered his body.

While some pitied him for being a hopeless romantic, many more where shocked and disgusted by what he did. What do you think? Was he deranged or just delusional?

NASA Announces Discovery Of 7 Other ‘Earths’

For hundreds of years, we have long debated the possibility of life on other planets.

For the first time ever, NASA has made a major, breakthrough discovery that could bring us one step closer to encountering alien life.

Seven Earth-sized planets have been discovered orbiting a nearby star and a Belgian-led research team believes that one of them could hold life.

According to NASA, the planets are as close as four light-years away and one of them could possibly host life!

They were spotted circling a closely around a small star called TRAPPIST-1. Six  of the planets might have the right temperature for liquid water, which means at least one of them might be life-sustaining.

An artist’s rendering of what it might look like from the surface of one Earth-like planet: TRAPPIST-1fPhoto: NASA / JPL-Caltech

Although it will still take some time to confirm the components of each planet’s atmosphere, the possibility of seven other Earths has got everyone talking:

“It’s remarkable that you could see another world right there,” Amaury Triaud, an exoplanet fellow at the Kavli Institute at the University of Cambridge and a study author, tells The Verge.

This Is What Happens In Your Stomach When You Drink Coca-Cola [VIDEO]

To a certain degree, we are all aware that soda is very bad for our health. Besides the staggering amount of sugar packed in a can of soda, you know it is harmful when it can be used to clean toilet bowls and other household items.

Coca-Cola is once again making headlines for being a silent killer. A video has surfaced this week and it will make you think twice before you down a another can of Coke.

The YouTube video which was posted by Molten Sciences carries out an experiment to demonstrate what happens in your stomach when you consume the fizzy drink.

The alarming experiment starts off with a man pouring a can of coke into a glass filled with a clear liquid that stimulates stomach acid. A few seconds later, bubbles begin to form and ooze all over like lava. Within minutes, the dark mixture begins to change in texture and rise in temperature, resulting in a black sludge that definitely can’t be good for anyone’s stomach.

Click on the next page to watch the interesting video.

Some viewers argued that the experiment is flawed because the acid used isn’t really similar to stomach acid while others decided to swear off Coke for good.

You can be the judge after you watch the eye-opening video below.

Will you be still be drinking Coca-Cola?

Couple Finds Unusually Large Egg, Inside It? Another Egg!

Poor Gertrude. Gertrude is a hen who has had a rough couple days. She is a chicken who lives on Gary Ashmore’s farm and her eggs are perhaps the strangest that you will ever see.

When Ashmore noticed her eggs were getting bigger, he was at first a little concerned. When he started to open them up, something looked a little off.

As he and his wife started to peel open these jumbo eggs they saw something red floating around inside.

They can’t believe what they find, check out the video to see.

The 7 month old chicken is having some kind of double eggs! A smaller complete egg with shell and all growing inside the unusually large egg.

That’s pretty intense!

Look Closely, What Do These Look Like To You?

Nature is full of some pretty remarkable things. There are beautiful animals, stunning landscapes and breathtaking events that occur in our world. But what about on a smaller scale?

Monkey Orchids are perhaps one of the coolest plants I have ever seen. They are these amazing flowers that all vary in colors and style but the one thing they have in common is that they all look like they have little faces!

These orchids were only names in 1978, by a botanist named Luer. There are over 120 different species, most of which are found in Ecuador.

Have you ever seen something like this before? Probably not in person at least. They are rare to find “in captivity” so you will need to take a trip to find some.

Do you see the resemblance?

‌

These flowers have more personality than any others!

What do you think, do these look like monkeys to you?

10 Things You Definitely Didn’t Know About Pigs

Pigs are one of those animals that you can’t help but love. They are these goofy little creatures that trot around and make silly noises. Especially when they are little babies, no one can resist their little faces.

But how much do you really know about the popular farm animal? It seems like a lot of people seem to be getting their own little pigs, but why is that? Well, it’s because they are amazing and here is why.

1. Pigs have a sixth sense

They can actually understand the differences between positive and negative events and their hearts respond accordingly. So they will react the same way you do when something bad happens.

2. They know who their friends are

Pigs can recognize their friends by their smell and their squeal. That way they always know where there best buds are!

3. Their noses are super sensitive

They have more tactile receptors on their nose than anyone else! This helps them sniff out their friends, find food, find a mate and even how they can sense emotional states of others.

4. They have impressive memories

They can remember objects really well compared to a lot of animals. They will remember a specific object for five days after it has been removed.

5. They are FULL of personality

They are all one-of-a-kind! Each has different levels of curiosity, sociability and aggression just like humans!

6. They can learn all kinds of tricks

Move over Fido, because this little piggy is heading to the big time! Pigs can learn all kinds of tricks just like dogs do, from sit, to fetch and apparently even how to do jumps!

7. They have super sensitive hearing

Those big ol’ ears serve a purpose and that purpose is to hear it all! They have better hearing than humans as they can hear between 42-40,500 HZ.

8. They are really good at reading human expression

They understand humans probably better than most actual humans. They can interpret emotions by judging the tilt of the human’s head or how they point a finger!

9. Pigs love to play

Just like dogs pigs have a very playful nature. They play in a lot of the same ways dogs to like playing with balls or sticks or just by chasing each other around.

10. Pigs are self aware

Even pigs know how cute they are! They are able to recognize themselves in the mirror and understand that it is just a reflection of them and the room they are in. Seven out of eight pigs were even able to find food that was hidden by using mirrors!

So next time you see a bunch of pigs on a farm, don’t act like they are just silly creatures. They are wonderfully intelligent and super sweet!

The Truth Behind How Avocados Can Be Bad For Your Health

Avocados are one of the most popular foods that healthy people seem to put in everything. They add it to salads, they eat it raw, there really seems to be endless options for this particular treat. The problem is, health experts are concerned that people might be eating too much of it.

Nutritionists say that we need to limit our intake of avocados otherwise we could all be in for a surprising and annoying result: a whole bunch of weight gain.

Avocados are known for their fatty nature, but because they are thought of as “the good fats” people don’t often realize that by eating too much you will have the same result as eating too much of any fats. There is roughly 22g of fat per avocado, which is about a third of how much you should be eating in one day.

There are also 250-280 calories per fruit, so even though there is a bunch of fiber and vitamins inside, it can lead to weight gain if you eat too much.

Nutritionists suggest that you don’t eat more than half of an avocado a day. They reccomend to be careful while eating guacamole which often contains several avocados and can trick you into eating way too much.

If you want to combat the fat that an avocado has, there are ways around it. If you are someone who works out a lot and burns a lot of calories and fat on a regular basis, eating an entire avocado probably won’t cause you any weight gain.

If not, unfortunately you may need to slow down on the avocado intake!

NASA Makes Gourmet Meals That Stay Fresh In A Plastic Bag

With all the problems involved in sending humans into the cold reaches of outer space, you wouldn’t expect fine dining to be on NASA’s to-do list. But at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, scientists are hard at work creating meals to keep astronauts happy and healthy while they’re in space.

You may remember astronauts from your childhood slurping their food out of tubes, or eating freeze-dried ice cream, but science has come a long way through the decades.

Today, there are more than 200 items on the menu, each of which is dehydrated and stored in plastic pouches to be either reheated or re-hydrated – the only two ways to “cook” food on the International Space Station.

You may worry that space food tastes like a futuristic TV dinner, but the astronauts seem very happy with some of NASA’s creations.

Popular meals include the chicken-pineapple salad, mocha yogurt and the shrimp cocktail with spicy horseradish.

At the same time, astronauts do miss their fridge at home, which is why NASA lets them bring a container of earth food, like instant coffee, hot sauces and Kool-Aid.

Click the next page to see the astronauts “cook” Thanksgiving dinner!

While most meals on the space station are just re-hydrated and eaten out of the bag, some astronauts like to get creative.

Flight engineer Sandra Magnus was famous for “hacking” the station’s food heater for some creative meals, including roasted vegetables.

But in space there’s a limit to how much you can play with your food. Certain items, like bread and graham crackers, are off limits because the crumbs might damage important instruments.

That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a nice PB&J sandwich every so often – as long as you’re okay with using a tortilla.

Space food may never compare to a nice homemade meal, but scientists are improving their meals all the time.

Someday a turkey dinner on the ISS might be the next best thing to your family’s back on earth, but until then we’ll stick to real food.

With Soylent, We Might Never Have To Eat Again

For years science fiction writers have imagined a drink or pill that could replace food, but the closest we’ve come so far are gross diet shakes that taste like chalk.

But a new product is promising to revolutionize the way we eat. Soylent pitches itself as an “engineered nutrition” product. It’s basically a powder that mixes with water, but unlike weight-loss shakes or protein smoothies Soylent is designed to give you all the nutrients your body needs.

Some people are skeptical, but the company has been funded by big names like Google for millions of dollars. Still, there’s evidence that Soylent hasn’t perfected their recipe yet, so there’s a chance this company could become the next Juicero.

Since the company launched in 2013, there’s been no shortage of news stories about nasty health effects and production problems with Soylent.

Some customers say it causes uncontrollable diarrhea, and the company has had to recall their line of protein bars after the algae inside them made people sick.

If that’s not enough to keep you from trying Soylent the company has a range of products for you to try.

There’s the coffee replacement Coffiest, three flavors of the basic Soylent drink (original, cacao and nectar) plus Soylent brand protein powder and bars. Each costs about $2 and is only available on Soylent’s website for now.

According to Soylent’s CEO Rob Rhinehart, soon you’ll be able to try the drink “anywhere you can get a coffee,” but people are having trouble adjusting to the idea of giving up food.

When Rhinehart appeared on Stephen Colbert’s TV show, the comedian asked him “what was the inspiration for this? Did you see someone in a coma with a feeding tube, and you thought, ‘I’ll have what he’s having‘?”

Would you try Soylent? Share this post and let us know!

People Are Divided Over This Beer Made With Human Urine

We’ve seen lots of chefs and food producers pushing the envelope lately. It seems like everyone is desperate for attention, leading to some bizarre creations and stomach-churning snacks.

But of all the unusual recipes we’ve featured, this new beer is definitely #1.

Pisner beer is the creation of Denmark’s farmer’s council, and it has a surprising twist that makes it very eco-friendly. Only 60,000 bottles of the special brew will be released, but the drink’s key ingredient means demand might not be very high.

In 2015, the farmer’s council collected urine from guests at the Roskilde Festival, one of Northern Europe’s biggest outdoor music events.

No, the 50,000 liters of waste collected from the event weren’t mixed into the beer. But it was processed and used as fertilizer for the barley the beer is brewed from.

People are understandably pretty skeptical about this process, which the farmer’s council calls “beercycling,” but animal urine is actually a very common fertilizer for beer ingredients.

“Just as we have seen shops sell goods that would otherwise have been thrown out, beercycling allows us to recycle a product that is normally flushed down the drain,” the council’s CEO Karen Hækkerup says.

In spite of the confused first impressions the drink is causing, some people are happy to try it and reviews have been pretty good.

One sampler said “If it had tasted even a bit like urine, I would put it down, but you don’t even notice,” but then again he might be biased, because he actually attended the Roskilde festival and “contributed” to the beer.

Pisner goes on sale in June, so if you’re brave enough get ready to place your order before it’s sold out.

Is this a good idea, or just gross? Share this story and let us know!
