When you’re starting out a new relationship, it can be easy to overlook your partner’s flaws. Whether it’s the way they leave toothpaste in the cap, or forget to take out the trash, daily living’s little quirks eventually reveal themselves.
While there are some things we can overlook in a person’s character, there are others that we just cannot stand.
Call them deal-breakers, red flags or just plain unbearable, these are the top 6 unattractive qualities in a partner:
The first couple of times they can’t make a decision might be cute. You like to take the lead and maybe don’t mind showing your new love new things, but after a while, it’ll wear down on you.
It can seem like they take hours choose the perfect Netflix movie to watch, but if they can’t decide between you and another, tell them to shape-up or ship out!
You know you deserve to be somebody’s #1.
“Me, me, me.” Do you know someone like this? If you don’t, it might be you!
The partner who doesn’t actually listen to what you’re saying shows they have very little compassion for anyone but themselves. If you try to tell them about a problem at work, or maybe some trouble in your family, they don’t really hear what you’re saying – maybe they even tell you to get over it.
One important part of good communication is active listening. When someone listens to what you say and responds by asking questions and repeating back what they understand, they’re actively listening to you. If your partner can’t do that, it’s time to say buh-bye!
There’s nothing wrong with a *little* shop-talk now and then, but if you practically LIVE off of the misery of others, you’ve definitely got this unattractive flaw.
No one likes a gossipy, foul-mouthed partner who relishes in speaking badly about others in order to lift themselves up. This kind of negativity gets really tiring and really old – really fast.
There are three more qualities you really stand for in a partner – one of them is a no-brainer!
Although your partner has many little personality quirks, there are some big, red flags that you shouldn’t ignore when it comes to their quality of character.
If you notice any or many of these, it might be time to have a serious talk about what’s really going on under the surface.
Remember, you’re not in the partnership to become someone’s therapist/mother/trophy – we all deserve to have healthy relationships with loving, engaging partners.
You don’t have to be a Harvard educated scholar, but if you can’t carry a conversation about something other than: the weather, what you ate for dinner last night, or your best selfie, you’re likely not contributing much to the intellectual side of the partnership.
People who aren’t willing to learn and grow intellectually can make for a pretty boring partner. Sure, they might be pretty, but if there’s nothing going on below the surface, the relationship probably won’t last.
Does this even need explaining? Once a cheater, always a cheater. Bye Felicia!
We all have our moments of self-doubt, the days when we’re feeling particularly bloated and unattractive; but if every day is an exercise in seeking out validation, from your partner, you’ve probably got this unattractive quality.
You know what they say: you must first love yourself before you can love another.
Life seems pretty easy for movie stars, talk show hosts, singers, and famous authors. They enjoy luxuries like expensive mansions in Los Angeles, designer clothes, and access to lavish parties. You’d never guess many of these stars were homeless once.
Twenty years ago, many of today’s famous people would have never dreamed they’d be walking the red carpet or speaking to millions from a microphone. In the face of poverty, hard work and determination pushed them to the top.
Take a moment to discover the journeys of 13 top celebrities and how they made it big. No matter what your circumstances, you also can achieve success – just like they did.
The Oscar-winning actor didn’t always have his face splashed all over magazine covers. DiCaprio grew up in a sketchy part of Los Angeles, where he was surrounded by junkies and prostitutes. His parents got divorced when he was young, but Leonardo dreamed, much like the character he plays in The Great Gatsby, that he would one day be wealthy.
One of the most well-loved actors and comedians in Hollywood spent his early years living in a van. When he was just 12 years old, Jim’s father lost his job and shortly after, the family was homeless. They lived in their VW camper van for a while before moving into a tent.
In an interview with Oprah, Carrey said that he’d written himself a check for $10 million while he was homeless. Today, the actor is worth approximately $150 million.
4. Stephen King
Although he is now one of the most famous authors of the horror fiction genre, Stephen King experienced extreme poverty, the breaking up of his family, and a horrific accident.
When he was just 2 years old, his father left, leaving his mother to support two young boys herself. In an effort to support the family, she worked almost constantly to support her boys.
When Stephen was older, he scraped by with several odd jobs and lived in a trailer with his wife Tabitha.
Neil Gaiman wrote: “[Stephen] couldn’t get a teaching position when he graduated, so he worked in an industrial laundromat, and pumped gas, and worked as a janitor, supplementing his meagre income with occasional stories.”
In 1999, Stephen was out for a walk when a van ran into him, shattering his leg and hip and collapsing one of his lungs. Although he never fully recovered, he went on to become the most famous writer of horror fiction.
5. JK Rowling
Harry Potter’s creator had next to nothing after her divorce from an abusive husband. She lived as a single mother, barely supporting herself and her child on welfare payments. Struggling from depression and suicidal thoughts, Rowling began drafting Harry Potter.
After the Harry Potter series was published, Rowling rocketed to fame. Today, she’s worth over $1 billion.
6. Chris Pratt
Before he was Burt Macklin in Parks and Recreation or Owen Grady in Jurassic World, Chris Pratt was homeless. Before becoming an actor, a 19-year-old Pratt lived in a van on a beach in Maui, Hawaii. The van was full of “fleas and mice,” but he seemed perfectly content.
His whole life changed when actress Rae Dawn Chong saw him at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, where he worked as a waiter. She convinced Pratt to come to Hollywood and become an actor, and he accepted.
“The moment she told me she was bringing me to LA, I knew,” he said. “I was like, ‘This is what I’m going to do with the rest of my life.'”
7. Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs didn’t always have a job. After he dropped out of college, the former CEO of Apple lived off money from returned Coke bottles and slept in his friends’ dorms. In order to get a good meal, he walked 7 miles every week to get food from a local place of worship.
After getting his first tech company job, he continued on to work at Apple and make it one of the most successful businesses. Jobs’ wealth was estimated to around $8.2 billion.
8. Halle Berry
While chasing her dream to become a famous actress, Halle Berry ran out of money. With nowhere else to turn, she stayed in a homeless shelter because her single mother wouldn’t send her any more money.
Today, she is an Academy Award winning actress and has appeared in films such as X-Men, Monster’s Ball, and Catwoman.
9. Tom Cruise
You’d think he’d never struggled a day in his life, but Tom Cruise lived in poverty with an abusive father while growing up. His mom sometimes worked four jobs at once to keep food on the table. Tom took theater in school and dropped out to pursue acting. We all know how that went. Tom Cruise is worth approximately $250 million.
Determined to reach success regardless of money, Cameron finally sold the rights to “The Terminator” for just $1.
We know what happened next. James Cameron went on to not only receive acclaim for the film, but also directed two record-breaking movies: Titanic and Avatar. Today, he’s not hurting for money one bit.
12. Dr. Phil
Famous talk show host Dr. Phil lived in a car with his father in Kansas City. Rather than let homelessness define the rest of his life, he went to get a college degree, then master’s, and finally PhD.
For a while, he worked with his father who was also a psychologist, until Oprah found him and launched his career towards fame and fortune. After several appearances on the Oprah Show, he began his own program and raked in $280 million.
13. Oprah Winfrey
When she was young, Oprah probably never even dreamed she’d amass a fortune of $2.7 billion. She grew up in an impoverished family and was raised by her grandmother until she was 6 years old. Because they had no money, Oprah’s grandmother would often make her dresses out of old potato sacks.
You might think you know everything about your favorite stars, but there’s more to their lives than what we read in the glossy magazines. Every one of them has struggled and worked hard to succeed in life, and none have worked harder or been more successful than Will Smith.
After a huge hip hop career, starring in some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters of all time, and earning 2 Oscar nominations, the star shows no signs of slowing down.
We can all learn a lot from Smith, especially these 10 lessons about finding happiness and success in life.
1. Your circumstances don’t define you
Will Smith was born and raised in West Philadelphia (yes, just like in the song) and didn’t exactly have an easy life. The son of a school board administrator and a refrigeration engineer, Smith’s parents started separating when he was 13, beginning a long, drawn-out split that went on until the actor was nearly 30.
When Smith graduated from high school, his mother managed to secure him a spot in a summer program for pre-engineering students at MIT. While other kids might’ve jumped at this chance to study at a prestigious school, Smith passed.
He says he knew he “wanted to rap,” and didn’t want to waste time chasing another dream. Imagine how awful it would be if his parents had talked him out of his choice, or if he had let self-doubt stop him from chasing his dream.
3. Success doesn’t solve your problems
Smith himself has said that “money and success don’t change people; they merely amplify what is already there,” and that’s a lesson he learned the hard way. His music career took off quickly, with hits like “Summertime” and “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” but Smith was spending his new money faster than he could keep up.
His bad habits caught up with him when the IRS took $2.8 million in back taxes from him. It just goes to show: you can’t let success cloud your judgement.
4. Keep going, even when things seem hopeless
Today, we might only know Smith as a failed rapper if he ended his career then and there. Instead, he pursued a new dream – acting. He signed a deal with NBC to star in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when he was on the verge of bankruptcy, and of course the rest is history.
5. Set goals and stick to them
With his TV career taking off, Smith aimed even higher and decided to become “the biggest movie star in the world.” By the time Independence Day became the highest grossing film in history in 1996, he had accomplished that goal. Your conviction and determination are nothing without something to reach for, and Smith proves you shouldn’t be afraid to dream big.
“Being realistic is the most commonly traveled road to mediocrity,” he once said. “Why would you be realistic. What’s the point of being realistic?”

6. Work harder than anybody else
Did you know Will Smith is a world record holder? When his romantic comedy Hitch was released in 2005, he made a point of showing up to the movie’s premiere in Manchester, Birmingham and London, England, all in just 24 hours. The star says that dedication to his fans and his movie studios has made him a success in the film business.
“I’ve never viewed myself as particularly talented,” he said. “Where I excel is ridiculous, sickening work ethic. While the other guys sleeping, I’m working. While the other guys eating, I’m working.”
7. Give back to those less fortunate
According to celebritynetworth.com, Smith’s film and music career have netted him $260 million, but he doesn’t hesitate to share his wealth. He’s supported dozens of charities through the years including the Red Cross, Stand Up To Cancer and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
He couldn’t put it any simpler when he explained why helping others is such an important part of his life: “If you’re not making someone else’s life better then you’re wasting your time. Your life will become better by making other lives better.”
8. Live with no regrets
As if being a talented actor and a great dad wasn’t enough, Smith has mastered the life-changing art of letting go. He famously passed on his chance to play Neo in the hit film The Matrix, which went on to become a $3 billion global franchise. Still, the actor says he has “no regrets” about the decision, and even modestly says Keanu Reeves did a better job than he could have.
9. Embrace Fear
This story that Smith shared about his experience jumping out of an airplane in Abu Dhabi is hilarious – of course – but also a crucial lesson about the way we let fear cloud our judgement. Smith knows that “the best things in life are on the other side of terror.”
10. Don’t let other people drag you down
Throughout his life he was bound to have lots of people tell him to lower his expectations, to hope for less and to settle for second best, but Smith has never bothered to listen to those voices.
As his song “Just the Two of Us” says, “throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, because hate in your heart will consume you too.”
Trying to figure out what’s good, what’s bad and what’s just plain wrong can be pretty confusing when it comes to the food we eat.
Today’s diet industry is flooded with experts ready to give us advice about everything from counting calories to fasting and carb-loading. What’s worse, it seems like every few months, the advice changes. What once was bad for us, is now good (in moderation), what once was good is now bad (in excess).
Let’s clear up some of the misconceptions we have about food, starting with the most popular food myths we still tell eachother today.
Yes and no. It really depends on how you prepare it. Believe it or not, popcorn is a source of fibre and antioxidants. It has the potential to be a healthy snack, as long as you prepare it the right way.
Use an air popper and, instead of butter, drizzle some olive oil on your popcorn. Toss with shredded, hard cheese like Parmesan or Romano cheese.
If it sounded too good to be true, that’s because it is. Celery does have less than 10 calories per serving, but you won’t burn more than 10 calories chewing on it.
Think fresh is better than frozen? Think again…
Like wives’ tales, the things we tell ourselves (and each other) about food can get a little out of hand. Especially when it comes to what’s actually good for us, versus someone’s ideas about what’s good for us.
We debunk a few more myths below, how many did you think were true?
Flash-frozen fruits are preserved pretty much on site, which preserves most of its vitamin and mineral content.
Compared with the fresh produce (unless it is locally grown), which actually loses some of its nutrients from harvest to counter, frozen can actually be better for you.
If you love steamed carrots, then you’re in luck – cooking carrots increases their nutritional value! The process actually breaks down cellular walls and releases beta-carotene, which our bodies convert into vitamin A.
While you might think that margarine has fewer calories because it is made from vegetable oils, it actually has about the same as butter.
Some margarines are actually worse than butter because they contain trans fats. If you prefer to use margarine, buy one that is trans fat-free.
Cold and flu season is here, and you can expect a flood of illnesses to hit your home and workplace.
If you have children or spend a lot of time with other people, you may have already succumbed to one of the most common symptoms of the season. *Cough cough*
It sucks to have to deal with, but luckily there’s a lot of different ways you can get rid of it, once you know what type you have!
The Cause: You probably just got over a cold and thought you were in the clear. Wrong. The virus you just fought off likely inflamed your throat, and now it feels like you need to cough it out, all the time.
The Cure: Your best bet is an over-the-counter cough syrup, maybe focusing on the throat and chest mixtures. The occasional cup of tea or other hot beverage will also loosen your airways and sooth your inflammation.
The Cause: This crackling cough feels pretty bad to go through, and it never seems to be hacked away. It is often the beginning stage of bronchitis, which is when your cold has spread to your lungs.
The Cure: You’ll need to be drinking plenty of fluids to get through this one. Consider taking acetaminophen to reduce the chances of developing a fever.
Keep track of these symptoms, otherwise they have a chance of becoming worse illnesses.
The Cause: Be on the lookout because this is a highly contagious disease that can lead to serious health problems. It’s definitely worse than a regular cough and you’ll hear the iconic “whoop” sound with it.
The Cure: Since infants are at the highest risk for severe complications to develop, you should take every precaution if they are around. Consider wearing a mouth mask and taking ibuprofen to reduce the swelling in the throat.
The Cause: Once thought to be wiped out, TB has resurged across the country and reports of extreme tiredness, night sweats, and a persistent cough seem to pop up every day from this infection.
The Cure: Awareness is the first defense to contracting tuberculosis. After a doctor diagnoses a patient, they can begin the six months of antibiotic treatment which cures 99 of cases.

At different points it has claimed the title of manufacturing behemoth, technology leader, and education summit, but now it is turning it’s focus on it’s latest industry: agriculture. A city that has proven it’s ability in economic growth will now ply its hand at local farming methods.
The Hilltop Urban Farm is an initiative focused on providing fresh, community grown produce to local residents in an effort to share healthy foods and connect different parts of the city.
The space will be the largest ever area designated for city farming in the country, and is expected to reach 23 acres of ripe farmland only two miles from city center!
The Hilltop Alliance is coordinating the project and says that the plan is focused on bridging together areas of the city that have chronic low-access to supermarkets. “It’s those neighborhoods that are the focus of our work,” says the spokesperson for the group.
But what exactly can you grow in the middle of a city you ask?
While most of the food that passes through our grocery stores is imported from outside of the country, there has been a marked effort in Pittsburgh, PA to reclaim spaces for local farming practices and community gardens.
The goal of The Hilltop Urban Farm is to feed people with items grown and tended for by neighborhoods for neighborhoods.
On the menu for their first season are winter peas, corn, potatoes, cabbage and other food local to Pennsylvania. There are also plans to install a fruit orchard and eventually walking trails for people to admire the natural space.
Set to open in 2019, the city hopes this project inspires people to look local for their meals and give youth a skills-building program that reconnects them with their community.
If you benefit from urban gardening, what do you like to grow?
Look, it’s not as though we don’t trust you. Really we do, but I’m sure we all know someone who claims to be a chef extraordinaire when they probably shouldn’t even be standing too close to a toaster. So for everyone’s sake, we’ll begin with the basics.
Let’s get cracking!
Not literally of course. But a mistake people often make is not adding enough water to the pot, which causes some issues. First being that the egg may not heat evenly if the water doesn’t cover it completely. You’ll also have trouble if you are dropping it into the water and it cracks, as part of the egg will leak out and compromise the yolk.
Protip: Bring the water to boil before adding the egg. It cooks faster and more evenly!
Later, when you are serving the egg, you don’t want the shell to be too difficult to remove. Fix this by adding a tablespoon of baking soda to the boiling water. Others say that white vinegar is the way to go.
You can also add salt now to make the egg more flavorful, unless you prefer your yolks au natural.
Next we’ll go over egg-sact cooking times!
Here’s a chart that details the perfect egg cooking times. While some prefer their yolk a little runny, others don’t want to deal with the mess and opt for the more dignified hard-boiled.
Now simply remove the egg (carefully!) and enjoy with any meal you prefer. Good condiments include salt, pepper, and paprika!
You may want to start with the above guide before trying out anything too difficult, but if you’re saying “Omelette smarter than you think I am” then here’s a recipe for any break-out chef!
For many, the idea of taking a ton of pills everyday to help with pain doesn’t seem appealing at all. Horror stories of addiction and all sorts of negative side effects leave many looking for a more holistic way to get rid of that unending ache.
While it seems daunting, there are actually quite a number of tried and true practices that many healthcare professionals are prescribing instead of a daily dose of pills. Here are some great ways to take the edge off of that deep pain and be in control of your body while doing it!
Your body is already teeming with hormones that are capable of dulling even the worst recurring pain symptoms, the trick is activating them yourself.
Stairs, Not Elevator
Studies have shown that these easy to perform activities actually do quite a lot to stimulate the bodies healing process. The point however to to slightly elevate the heart rate without having the exercise become too physically jarring, take it slow!
Relax, Then Focus
For millennia, meditation has been the prescribed treatment for all sorts of bodily ailments. You will want to begin with 5-20 minute sessions, somewhere you can relax and then let your mind wander and orient itself. Routine practice will lead to overall pain reduction, not simply during meditation.
Keep reading to find out more insights into how to naturally keep your body pain-free!
Indian and Asian medicine has long held the use of herbs and spices to be integral to a properly functioning individual. The antioxidant properties of these substances prevent inflammation through muscular relaxation, even affecting your genes for long lasting relief!
While there are many other culinary items that could help, these were specially chosen due to their high concentration of anti-inflammatory nutrients. Try adding these to your diet to see a huge difference in pain tolerance!
The International Association for the Study of Pain’s definition of pain is “always subjective and is defined by the person who experiences it.” Pain is very much dependent on the mindset of the individual, and having a more structured management system in your head will lead to a healthier perspective!
Utilizing concentration in similar ways to meditation, you can cause your blood vessels in your brain to relax and open up, allowing more oxygen to flow through your body.
If you find yourself unable to center your thoughts alone, then consider using other items or mediums to help you divert your attention away from the pain. Listening to your favorite music, reading a book you love, or calling a friend will actually lessen the pain you are experiencing.
Share these healthy tips with your circle and give them a try next time you are feeling that chronic ache!
You remember holding hands at the altar, looking into each other’s eyes, and repeating the words “I do” and really meaning it. Just because you both said “till death do us part” doesn’t mean that it was going to be easy to keep it that way.
If you are reading this because you are unsure of your own feelings or that of your partner’s, then you should know the symptoms of a relationship heading for the rocks.
Read through these common signs of a failing relationship, and remember, just because you recognize some of them, doesn’t mean that your marriage is necessarily over! There’s always time to try and fix things, once you know what you are looking for.
You spend the majority of your lives with your spouse, and it’s meant to bring you closer together as the years go by. But are you finding that you and your partner are drifting apart?
This can take many forms, from physically spending time away from one another without noticing it, or simply developing incompatible perspectives on life.
If you are finding it harder and harder to maintain a conversation and small talk, then you may be unconsciously building a wall of silence between yourselves.
Have you noticed that everything becomes an argument with your partner nowadays? You can’t even go out to dinner without fighting about where to go, what to watch on TV, or even who started the bickering.
This is a classic sign of unresolved frustration in a relationship. It usually means that something has happened that the other person felt wasn’t fair, but can’t let go of.
It could also be that your partner is trying to gain more control, and tearing down everything that you do is their way of showing how superior they are compared to you.
Couples in healthy partnerships tend to share the highlights of their lives with their spouses first, since it’s really important for them, it should also be important for the other.
But if they start to share the good news with someone else before you, or worse, “forget” to tell you at all, then this could be a serious sign that they don’t want to share their life with you at all.
Now, your partner going out and getting their hair cut or buying a new shirt isn’t what we’re talking about here.
This is more hand-in-hand with the above point, where your spouse starts changing their appearance and “style” without talking to you about it or including you in the decision-making process.
It could mean that they are trying to become a new person, one that has no connection to their current relationship.
Check out the more serious warning signs on the next page!
It’s bad enough if your marriage has problems that are affecting the both of you, but ignoring them will only make it worse.
People seek distractions when they feel they can’t, or don’t want to solve the issues they are dealing with.
This can take the form of over-indulgence in a new hobby, spending more time with a new friend group, or at it’s worst, having an affair.
These are all signs that your spouse is looking for something else to occupy their thoughts, replacing you as the center of their lives. Remember to not attack their new hobby as something bad on its own, but rather a symptom of their own disinterest in you.
Arguments are never the one thing to break a marriage, and just because you get into the occasional fight with your partner, doesn’t mean it’s game over for you both.
However, there are certain types of arguing that are sure fire signs that there is something serious happening. The biggest thing to look out for is when you both seem to be rehashing the same argument over and over again.
It highlights multiple problems between the two of you. First, that you cannot accept the other person’s position on a topic. Second, it has clearly become more of a power struggle than anything else. And finally, that it is more important to win than to coexist peacefully with someone you love.
A surefire way to tell if your marriage is heading for disaster is when you both find it difficult to share tender moments together.
If you can’t remember the last time you had sex, or if you failed to keep the energy between the two of you, then it displays the loss of affection felt between both parties.
If you have noticed these or any other troubling behaviors within your marriage, just remember that the most successful tactic to avoiding separation is open communication. Trust that you can be honest with your partner, and let them know that they can be vulnerable with you as well.
Have any other warning signs you’d like to share? Post them in the comments!
Having kids means having to put up with a lot of things. It could be the constant pouting, their need to wander off, but most of all, the mess.
Children are geniuses in coming up with new ways to make everything dirty, with everything from dirt to crayons. But something you don’t have to put up with any longer is stains from their favorite treat, chocolate.
Chocolate is the worst to deal with. It melts, gets all sticky, and leaves a trace that up until now you thought would stay forever. But before you throw away those fabrics, give these products a try and you’ll be amazed at how different those “ruined” articles look!
This is going to be the most common one to deal with. It seems like kids actually want to smear the chocolate all over their clothes, especially if they have just come out of the wash!
Before you do anything, scrape off as much chocolate as you can from the stain. Next, instead of using some expensive stain remover, pretreat the piece of clothing with Shout Advanced Gel, then stick it in the washing machine. If still present, lather, rinse, repeat.
Of course, you give your child a candy bar in order to keep them busy for a few minutes, you turn your back for a few short minutes, and then suddenly your couch looks like it just left a horror film.
Now, you can’t just put your upholstery in the washing machine, so how do you get the stains out?
First things first, pick up some simple detergent, like Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid Dish Soap, for less than $3.00! Mix a tablespoon of this with two cups of cool water and then scrub it out using a clean, white cloth.
Breast cancer is a terrible disease that affects roughly 1 in 8 women across the United States, and the effect that it has on a person’s life, and the lives of those around them, is monumental.
While the fear of succumbing to cancer is always present in those with a positive diagnosis, many people do not realize the psychological toll that comes with dramatically changing one’s lifestyle.
With cancer, everything changes. In between the pills, chemotherapy, and other treatments, it is easy to lose a sense of oneself.
This is why it’s important to hold onto things that make you remember the normalcy in your life. So doctors have unveiled a “cheat sheet” for patients who have undergone treatment for breast cancer and want to know how they can stay healthy.
Just remember, not all cases are the same.
You should always talk to your doctor about what is best for your health and well-being, including these recommendations.
The advice listed by health watchdog, Nice, is meant to show women with breast cancer that they can still enjoy certain aspects of life that they always have, while also promoting healthy behaviors.
First up, the organization says that women who have experienced breast cancer should be having no more than two glasses of wine a week. This means you can still sip from a bottle of red with your girlfriends every Saturday night to catch up on everything!
It was also highly suggested that women who have previously been diagnosed with the disease take up walking as part of a regular exercise regiment.
Losing weight can work wonders for your overall emotional state, but it also boosts survival rates across the board.
Taking walks around the neighborhood also helps you spend time with friends and your community, giving you a positive outlet and improving mental health!
Share this article with someone who has experienced breast cancer in their lifetime, and invite them out for a stroll sometime soon!
Everyone agrees that confidence is sexy, but how do you become more confident and where does it come from?
Real confidence can be fleeting, short lived, and if you lose it, so incredibly difficult to find again.
Some people just seem to have it while most of us have to work at it.
This list of confidence tips is filled with inspiration and aha moments that are perfect for saving and revisiting anytime you are feeling down or doubting yourself.
So if you’re in need of a little lift, here are the 21 best confidence boosters to help you feel more confident right now:
Don’t let that be your story. Life is short. Take risks. You never know just how amazing something might turn out to be. If you even have the slightest shot at getting something that will bring you joy, risk it!
Embrace your uniqueness. Be a unicorn in a field of horses.
Just start. Start before you’re ready because you will never be perfectly ready. Let today be the start of something new and something amazing.
One thing you can’t fail at is being yourself. We’re all trying to become someone new rather than the person we are meant to be, but forgot how to be. Learn to become more you. Accept yourself first… then other people will.
Don’t take anything personally and never base your self worth on the opinions of others. Happiness is an inside job. Don’t give that power or responsibility to someone else.
Fear is not real; it is a choice. We make things scarier than they really are. Facing your fears makes them less frightening and makes you more confident.
Arrogance requires advertising. Real confidence speaks for itself. Those who are putting you down are just trying to bring you down to their level.
Have the courage to be the person you’ve always wanted to be.
Perhaps the seed of doubt was planted in your mind without you knowing and you identified with it. This is why it’s important to, every now and then, blow your own damn mind.
Take a look in the mirror. That is your competition. The sooner you master your thoughts, the sooner you master yourself.
Remaining calm when everyone expects you to lose it, is a true sign of confidence. This becomes much easier when you’ve been there before. If you haven’t, act like you have.
Failure is the first step to success. Learn from it.
What you think about, you will become. What you feel, you will attract. And what you can imagine, you can create.
Despite what advertisers will tell you, self-confidence is the one outfit you cannot buy. That is why confidence can be so fleeting. Everything eventually goes out of style except for true self-love.
Aim to express yourself rather than trying to impress others.
Live by your own rules. Blaze a trail of your own brilliance, and always take the scenic route.
Confronting your fears is the only way to achieve true confidence in life. How amazing would you feel if each day you did something that scared you and conquered that fear?
EVERYONE experiences self doubt. But if you ever think you’re too small to make a difference, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.
Love yourself. The first step to self-confidence.
Confidence shows not just in your words but how you say them. Say it like you mean it.
If you think you will fail, chances are you will. Aim high in life, you will surprise yourself.
We’ve all made stupid mistakes, it’s just a part of growing as a human. But there comes a time when we’ve really got to ask ourselves why we continue to make the same mistakes over and over again.
Whether you just can’t give up the morning lattes or those all-night Netflix marathons, there’s something for everyone on this list.
See if you can recognize any of your health mistakes and resolve to correct them once and for all!
There is an important reason why nutritionists say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
After eight hours of fasting, your metabolism slows down and your energy levels suffer. Basically, your body is starving for nutrition and a healthy breakfast is the best way to fuel yourself for the day and for life!
We’ve known for at least two generations that tanning is dangerous, but why do we still do it? Now that we have access to high-quality and safe self-tanning creams and sprays, there should be no excuse for risking skin cancer for the sake of a “sun-kissed” glow.
We know it’s wrong, but so many of us still do it. Have you tried to kick the habit?
It’s hard to argue against the facts, but it’s even harder to quit our vices. Rather than wait until it’s too late, we should be making health our main priority.
After all, your body is a temple – it’s time to treat it as such!
On January 11, 1964 the Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service released the first report linking cigarette smoking to lung cancer and laryngeal cancer.
Many women worry that they will become disproportionately muscular if they start lifting weights, which is why many of them don’t.
The truth is many women lack the testosterone (and time) that it takes to get super bulky. Not only will “pumping iron” make you more toned, but studies have proven that it will also boost your metabolism for the rest of the day.
It should be common sense that getting an annual checkup is one of the best things you can do for your health.
Your doctor’s ability to detect a problem in its early stages could potentially save your life. Both men and women should visit their general practitioner and dentist yearly.
We are all guilty of this at least once in our adult lives. For years, our doctors have told us that (on average) we all need about 8 hours of sleep every night.
Most people don’t even get 6 hours though, and that kind of sleep deprivation has been linked to all kinds of health conditions including:
accidents from diminished mental alertness
It’s time to create your own sleep routine to ensure that you’re getting enough rest. If you’re truly suffering from insomnia or other sleep disorders, speak with your doctor about the treatment that is option best for you.
Do you love your morning latte?
Drinking coffee, smoothies, sodas, juices and alcohol in high quantities throughout the day will put you high over what is considered a healthy calorie count.
You are likely consuming an extra 1,000 calories each day – if you’re not cutting back on your food calories. If you really must have a latte, try to limit yourself to one-a-week.
We’ve all got them, which vice have you vowed to get rid of?
It’s the source of life. Humans are approximately 75 water, and we need to drink it constantly or else we risk many negative side effects, up to and including death within a few days.
Many people think water is something they can get from other sources like juice, tea, or soda. Unfortunately, while these do have varying levels of water, it is just not the same as having the pure H2O!
Here are just a few of the reasons you should start carrying a water bottle around with you wherever you go!
Feeling sluggish? Always tired? Maybe you just aren’t staying properly hydrated. Drinking water throughout the day allows your body to function properly in everything from muscle movement to organ activity.
Your brain is mostly water content and it also needs to remain saturated in order to stay clear and in focus!
That’s right, just drinking water is enough to begin shedding those extra few pounds. Water helps remove the by-products of fat, makes you feel fuller and reduces hunger, and boosts your metabolism so your body works better!
By replacing unhealthy drinks with water, you’re already making healthy choices!
As we mentioned earlier, keeping hydrated helps your brain think more clearly, but it also acts as a natural headache remedy.
Since a lot of your emotions are tied to your mental state, increasing the amount of water you drink will lead to you feeling better more often! Just think how good you feel when your body is working the way it should be!
A healthy and hydrated person will have amazing skin because of what they allow into their body.
Water flushes the toxins out of your body via sweat and other secretions, and acts as a natural moisturizer. This keeps your skin looking clear, soft, and youthful. In fact, it even prevents wrinkles from forming!
Share if you think everyone should be reminded how amazing water is!
