However, some of our favorite Korean celebrities are known for their rare last names. Here’s a list of 10 Korean stars with unusual last names!
Wanna One’s Ong Sung Woo
On the March 21 episode of MBC’s “Radio Star,” Ong Sung Woo revealed that less than 1,000 people in Korea have the last name Ong. Due to his rare name, Ong Sung Woo often introduces himself as “Korea’s first celebrity with the last name Ong.”
Taeyang’s real name is Dong Young Bae, and there are only around 5,000 people in Korea who share his last name of Dong.
As many fans know, Seungkwan’s last name is Boo. The name Boo originates from Jeju Island, where Seungkwan is from, and there are currently about 10,000 people with the last name in Korea.
DIA’s Huihyeon has the last name Ki, which is shared by approximately 28,000 people in Korea. Prior to debuting as a member of DIA, Huihyeon promoted under the name of Cassie.
Kan Mi Yeon
There are only approximately 2,500 people in Korea with the same last name as Kan Mi Yeon. A member of girl group Baby VOX, Kan Mi Yeon received attention for her uncommon last name at the time of her debut.
Actor Ryu Soo Young was born as Uh Nam Sun, but he changed his name for his career. There are about 18,000 people with the last name Uh in Korea.

Gaon’s last name is Bum, and only around 3,800 people in Korea have the same last name as her.
