You never know what to expect on America’s Got Talent, while most of the acts are fairly entertaining, there are those special few that truly take your breath away and Evie Clair’s moving performance was just such an act.
The 14-year-old girl from Florence, Arizona poured her heart out into Christina Perri’s 2011 song “Arms,” and left it all on the stage before the judges.
Her powerful voice shook with emotion as she sang the ballad – one she has been singing to her cancer-stricken father in his darkest moments.
“About a year ago, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer,” Evie tearfully told Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. “They gave him a five percent chance to live, and he continued working and supporting our family. So tonight I’m here to sing for him.”
As she spoke to the judges, she tearfully made it through the initial interview before host, Tyra Banks, rushed out with some water.
“When my dad is having rough days, I sing him this song to make him feel better and give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,” said the young teen.
