Mike Gundy Proves Once Again He’s A National Treasure

In a typical Mike Gundy fashion, the beloved Oklahoma State head coach delivered another memorable moment, this time during a press conference recapping Saturday’s overtime victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Cowboys may have secured a thrilling 39-31 win, but Gundy was far from satisfied – particularly with his defense.

Despite the win, Oklahoma State’s defense gave up a staggering 648 yards of total offense, including 416 passing yards from Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green and another 232 rushing yards.

While the game is likely to be remembered as one of the highlights of the 2024 season, Gundy’s concerns about his defense took center stage.

By Monday’s press conference, the conversation quickly shifted to the performance of his defensive squad.

A media member suggested that, upon reviewing game footage, the defense might not have played as poorly as it initially seemed.

Gundy, however, wasn’t having it and didn’t mince his words.

“They were running wide open,” Gundy responded bluntly. “You’re wanting to make it look better, and honestly, they were running wide open. We’re honest here. There’s no reason anyone should come to these press conferences if we’re going to bullsh*t each other.”
