At 2-2, the Philadelphia Eagles are in decent shape as we enter the first Sunday of October.
Having said that, many Philly fans are worried that the team is heading in the wrong direction and things could quickly unravel if serious corrections aren’t made soon.
The last thing you want in the NFL is an early bye-week. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they have the earliest bye of all.
However, considering the challenges they’ve faced, perhaps the Birds could make good use of the time off.
That’s exactly what head coach Nick Sirianni is hoping for…
“That’s on both sides of coaching and playing,” Sirianni said of the need to improve across the board. “But we’re in this thing together, and it takes everybody.
“It’s never going to be 100 percent here and 100% there, because that’s just not the way this game is played. That’s why it is the greatest team game, and I’ll stand on that it’s the greatest team game whether it’s a win or a loss.
“But that’s how you continue to come together through the tough times, through the good times, to become a team.”
While this season has been marked by errors, miscues, and self-inflicted setbacks, Sirianni doesn’t want the team to be weighed down by any single mistake.
Instead, he emphasizes resilience, noting that no football game is won or lost on a single play – it’s the accumulation of many plays that defines the outcome, and the team must stay focused and be able to fight through turmoil.
“I know one thing that we can say our identity is as a football team that we talk a ton about is our team, our accountability, our detail, and our toughness that we’re constantly trying to work on and become better at that at all times,” Sirianni said.
“You win on a collection of plays, not just one play. And I think that’s something that – we’ve got to put our head down and just grind to make sure we’re fixing all the mistakes, because you never know when that play is going to be. You never know when that turnover is going to be.”
Unfortunately for Sirianni, his time in Philly might soon be coming to an end if the Eagles don’t regain their old 2022 form.
The roller-coaster ride of the Nick Sirianni experience has been quite interesting.
After his horrifically awkward opening press conference, Sirianni managed to win over the entire city and fan base with his cocky, never-back-down attitude.
Most importantly, Sirianni was leading the Eagles to wins on the field.
However, since their Super Bowl run two years ago, those wins have become fewer and far between.
What are your thoughts on Sirianni’s job security? … Is he indeed in trouble?
Are the Eagles capable of turning things around and re-establishing themselves as a legitimate Super Bowl contender?
Should we be 100% sold that Jalen Hurts is indeed a franchise quarterback?
Assuming Sirianni falls short once again, should the Eagles replace him with Bill Belichick???
