Bill Belichick To Dallas Rumors Catching Fire

The Dallas Cowboys suffered another humiliating defeat at home on Sunday, this time at the hands of the Detroit Lions.

With the loss, the spotlight has once again turned toward head coach Mike McCarthy, whose position is under increasing scrutiny.

Sitting with a mediocre record of 3-3, the calls for McCarthy’s job are growing louder and louder.

Despite the pressure, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones voiced support for McCarthy following the game.

“I still stand behind Mike,” Jones reassured the media, trying to quell speculation. But that hasn’t stopped rumors from swirling about potential replacements, with one particularly intriguing name in the mix: former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz ignited the speculation by taking to social media on Sunday night.

He suggested that if the Cowboys decide to make a change at head coach this offseason, Belichick could be a top contender for the job. Schultz cited sources who claim Belichick has a “really great” relationship with the Jones family.

“While owner Jerry Jones remains committed to Mike McCarthy, many around the league wonder if Dallas could become the primary landing spot for Bill Belichick this offseason, should the Cowboys decide to make a change. According to multiple sources, Belichick has a “really great” relationship with the Jones family … McCarthy is in the final year of his contract, and Dallas is 3-3 this season, with all three losses coming at home,” Schultz posted on X.

While having a strong relationship with the Cowboys’ ownership doesn’t guarantee Belichick would be hired, it’s a factor that could play in his favor.

As a matter of fact, numerous people were shocked that Jones didn’t hire Belichick after last season’s disastrous home loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Many thought that was the one and only shot that Jones would have to hire Belichick. However, the legendary coach is still available all of these months later. Meanwhile, Jones isn’t exactly getting a great ROI with McCarthy.

Belichick has stayed surprisingly busy with all of his media work. However, he reportedly is dead-set on returning to the sidelines next season. The all-time wins record is said to mean a whole lot to him.

While the speculation of Belichick-to-Dallas is nothing new, we do seem to be inching closer to it possibly becoming a reality.

Ironically, two of the Cowboys most fierce rivals – the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants – are seen as the other two most likely destinations for Belichick.

Despite the confidence that Jones continues to show in McCarthy, you wonder just how much longer this can continue.

Of course, Dallas has a ton of injuries which complicate matters. There’s also plenty of season left and the NFC East looks much weaker than originally expected.

However, the clock is ticking on McCarthy.

If Jones is to bring the axe down on Big Mike in-season, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s made a coaching change prior to the completion of a season.

In 2010, after a dismal 1-7 start, Jones fired then-head coach Wade Phillips and appointed Jason Garrett as interim coach.

While Belichick wouldn’t want to join a team in the middle of the season, he undoubtedly is preparing himself to take over a franchise come the new year.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of Belichick heading to Dallas in 2025???
