A prominent offseason rumor in the NFL revolved around Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams being unhappy with the organization.
Speculation first gained traction when Netflix released the documentary series Receiver, where Adams appeared frustrated with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
Those rumors seemed to fizzle out, especially after the Raiders replaced head coach Josh McDaniels with Antonio Pierce.
However, former NFL star DeSean Jackson reignited the speculation with recent comments.
Jackson’s claims came during an appearance on FS1’s The Herd, where he suggested that Adams had confided in him about his dissatisfaction.
“This one is tough because me and Davante, we have talked, and I hate to do it, but at the end of the day, he isn’t happy,” Jackson said. “You go from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Raiders, and not only Jimmy G [Garoppolo], but you also had your boy [Derek] Carr.
“It didn’t work out like you thought from the Fresno State days … So, now I just don’t think he is really that happy there.”
Adams, however, decisively shut down Jackson’s “report” on Wednesday.
“Whatever you see, if it ain’t from the horse’s mouth, it’s probably bullsh*t,” Adams said. “Whatever has been put out there lately has been complete BS.
“In terms of me being upset or not being happy in this organization, it’s just a bunch of BS that’s meant to throw everybody off … If I was pissed off, I wouldn’t be here.”
Adams addressed Jackson’s remarks further, expressing confusion over where he got the idea that he was unhappy. He emphasized that the two players are not as close as Jackson implied.
“I’ve probably spoken with DeSean Jackson maybe three or four times in my life, and I never had a conversation with him ever,” Adams explained.
“I put that on my kids. I’ve never spoken to him about anything. The only person I really talk to about my feelings in general is my wife, and she ain’t out there leaking anything.”
Jackson isn’t the only one who’s hinted that Adams is unhappy with the Raiders. However, that doesn’t mean it’s true.
Many have speculated that it’s only a matter of time before Adams is traded to the Jets where he would reunite with old buddy Aaron Rodgers.
How the Raiders perform during the early part of the season will have a whole lot to do with that. There’s a realistic chance that Vegas ends up being a whole lot better than what some doubters think.
What are your thoughts on the whole situation?
Despite what he says publicly, do you think Adams is indeed unhappy in Vegas???
