ESPN’s “College GameDay” has officially revealed its special celebrity guest picker for tomorrow’s program which will broadcast live from Ann Arbor ahead of the massive Michigan-Texas showdown.
The early-season clash features two powerhouse programs that made the 2024 College Football Playoff and could make waves on the national stage once again.
Heisman candidate Quinn Ewers and the loaded Longhorns will attempt to knock off the defending national champions at The Big House.
Needless to say, it will be quite a scene tomorrow and College GameDay (along with Big Noon Kickoff) will be there for all the pregame festivities.
As is tradition, College GameDay will feature a celebrity guest with ties to the home team to join the crew and weigh in on game predictions.
This week, they’ve tapped none other than Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps.
Phelps, who spent time at the University of Michigan during his college years, will return to Ann Arbor for what is being billed as one of the Wolverines’ biggest non-conference home games in years.
Michigan enters the game as a national title contender, but despite their home-field advantage, the visiting Texas Longhorns are favored by more than a touchdown.
While Michigan has some concerns at the quarterback position, the Wolverine defense promises to pose a serious threat to Ewers and the high-powered Texas offense.
The choice of Phelps for celebrity guest picker has split fans down the middle.
Despite his ties to Michigan, many fans prefer that the guest picker be someone more “football-focused.” … After all, think of all the legendary Wolverines and Longhorns who ESPN could have chosen.
While he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, actor and die-hard Texas supporter Matthew McConaughey will be in Ann Arbor and could have been chosen. (He’s confirmed to make an appearance on Big Noon’s pregame and will possibly play a part on GameDay as well.)
Don’t get me wrong – there’s still plenty of fans who love the choice of Phelps. After all, he’s considered by most to be the greatest Olympian in United States history.
What are your thoughts on Phelps getting the nod? … Is there someone else you would have preferred?
Or are you among those who couldn’t care less who the celebrity guest picker is?
Either way, how do you see the Texas-Michigan showdown playing out???
