Host Attacked For Harsh Tom Brady Bashing

NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson has issued an apology after a light-hearted comment he made about Tom Brady during Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns went viral.

The Cowboys secured a dominant 33-17 victory over the Browns in their Week 1 matchup.

Dallas controlled the game, jumping to a commanding 20-3 lead by halftime. At one point, Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey nailed a 66-yard field goal, but a delay of game penalty nullified the attempt.

The Cowboys briefly considered attempting a 71-yard field goal but ultimately opted against it.

During the broadcast, Hanson remarked on Brady’s reaction to the potential record-breaking kick, noting that the legendary quarterback, who was making his broadcasting debut for FOX, seemed less enthused than expected.

“Oh come on, Brady’s got to get more excited than that in the booth!” Hanson exclaimed on NFL RedZone, in a comment that quickly gained attention online.

However, Hanson has since expressed regret over the remark, clarifying that it was meant as a joke but may have been misinterpreted.

“This was unfair & inconsiderate by me. Yes, I was saying it tongue-in-cheek—but I didn’t calculate how it may come across,” Hanson posted on X.

He went on to apologize directly to Brady, adding, “@TomBrady, I apologize. I promise I am rooting you on in this new venture!”

The veteran NFL host emphasized that the comment was not intended to offend and reiterated his support for Brady in his new broadcasting role.

Hopefully Hanson doesn’t feel too bad about his remark. After all, there’s nothing wrong with what he said. Brady could have shown a little more excitement leading up to the would-be record field goal attempt.

Brady’s debut has been met with mixed reviews. Some critics feel he was way too “safe” on the broadcast. The perfect example being how he didn’t criticize Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson as harshly as he should have.

What are your thoughts on Brady’s performance in the booth???
