Authorities responded to a call reporting a dispute between two individuals at a residence.

Peppers, who has been a key player for the Patriots this season, is expected to face several charges, including assault and battery, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance, which police believe to be cocaine.

“The victim was treated at the scene,” according to a statement released by Braintree police.

The Patriots acknowledged the incident in a brief statement, saying, “We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating,” the statement read, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

Peppers did not play in the Patriots’ loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, reportedly sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old’s future with the team remains uncertain as legal proceedings unfold.

He was arraigned today at Quincy District Court, where he entered not guilty pleas. Further details regarding the case are sure to come but we do know that his next court hearing is scheduled for November 22.

Peppers had just celebrated his 29th birthday on Friday, hours before his arrest.

The veteran safety has been a key player for the Patriots since joining the team, starting in all four of the team’s games this season prior to the arrest.

Peppers began his NFL career after being drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Browns in 2017, following an impressive college career at Michigan.

He was later traded to the New York Giants in 2019, where he played for three seasons before signing with the Patriots.

In July, Peppers agreed to a lucrative three-year, $30 million contract extension with New England, cementing his status as one of the team’s core defensive players.

However, his future with the Patriots now hangs in the balance as both the team and the league await the outcome of the legal investigation.
